NBC tweaked its comedy lineup, sending "Whitney" to Wednesdays to anchor new show "Are You There, Chelsea?" In a way, that led to what many would consider a promotion for "Up All Night" (Thu., 9:30 p.m. EST on NBC), shifting into that Thursday night block and getting the strongest comedy lead-in the network has -- "The Office."
The sitcom celebrated its new home by celebrating the new year, but this time it was a low-key affair at Chris and Reagan's house. And much to Chris' eternal torment, it was "Game Night." It's not so much that he hates games, but he hates how super-competitive Reagan gets. When he called her on it, the couple argued to the point of making up a list of all the things they do that annoy one another.
The list was in the form of New Year's resolutions so they could try and stop doing those things in 2012. But as the clock ticked down, they realized how petty they were being, and erased almost all of their little personality quirks that both irk each other and are endearing. The only things kept were Reagan's super-competitiveness and Chris' Borat impression. It probably is time to let that one go.
Jason Lee's guest-starring role as Eva's boyfriend Kevin continued to grow, as he and Eva's relationship grew more serious. After he thought she was ashamed of him, Ava revealed that in a way she was ashamed of her own track record. She didn't want him to become another ex mocked on the Internet. By the end of the episode, it was New Year's Day, and she was proud to have Kevin by her side on the parade float.
"Up All Night" settles into its new home on Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. EST on NBC.
