NEW YORK — A 7-year-old Brooklyn boy died in one of two late-night fires that sent 10 other people to hospitals suffering from smoke inhalation.

Police say the child, Joel Smith, died in the blaze reported at 1:22 a.m. Sunday at an apartment building in Brooklyn's Bushwick neighborhood. Three other people there suffered from smoke inhalation.

The second fire was reported in Brooklyn's Sheepshead Bay at 11:20 p.m. Saturday; seven people required treatment for smoke inhalation as flames shot out of a window.

Authorities are investigating the causes of both blazes.

Seven years old have no where else to go, but Heaven. His angel brothers and sisters will be there to take good care of Him. Have a wonderful flight to Heaven little one.

Its not a pleasant neighborhood so nothing surprise me.

Fires can happen anywhere. There was a fire recently that burned down a park slope brownstone, so regardless of the neighborhood, its just as tragic whenever and wherever it happens. Keep your stupid predispositions to yourself.

In the last decade Sheepshead Bay became so bad. Hobos hang out under the train now and ppl keep getting robbed. It happened to me.
11:02 PM on 01/15/2012
are there still people called hoboes?
08:08 AM on 01/16/2012
Actually, Hobo was an old term for men that hopped freight trains and lived from town to town with fellow hoboes. They were basically harmless and poor people.

RIP: may God give grace to the family who has been dealt this blow...I lost my daughter in a car accident; I know what it's like to bury a child....it is awful. But, with God, Peace does come!
