George Clooney Golden Globes 2012 Best Actor Drama Winner

George Clooney

George Clooney took home his third career Golden Globe on Sunday, winning Best Actor, Drama for his role in "The Descendants." He starred in the Alexander Payne-directed film as Matt King, a man struggling to navigate fatherhood through a storm of bad news.

His problems are myriad: King finds out that his comatose wife, who is slowly dying after an ocean accident, had an affair; he has to make a decision over the impending sale of his family's inherited Hawaiian land; and he has very little idea how to interact with his kids.

An understated performance, Clooney's ability to anchor the film and keep it grounded wowed the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and puts him in lead position amongst the Best Actor Oscar contenders going into next month's Academy Awards.

In his acceptance speech, Clooney gave props to Brad Pitt for his charity work, to Michael Fassbender for his giant penis, to the HFPA for the award and Alexander Payne for being a filmmaker and friend.

I really enjoyed the movie "The Descendants" and thought George gave his best performance since "Michael Clayton." I must admit though that I was very surprised - although pleasantly - to see him win for Best Actor and the film for Best Picture. It's not that I don't believe he and the movie deserved these accolades, but rather that the award shows tend to favor "period pieces" and / or biographical stories and characters. At any rate, good going George!!! It was a very nice film and I look forward to purchasing a DVD copy when it's released.

Boy haven't we gotten arrogant and smug since we left "Roseanne"?

If looks are all you have , you have very little.

George Clooney is an incredibly good looking guy, and a decent actor as well, but what made him think of using a "locker room joke" at the Golden Globes ???

This flaming pop tart had only a few minutes to graciously accept an award in front of his colleagues and the global community, and he uses it to make a locker room joke. No taste, no class, and certainly no gentleman.

These awards are nothing but self serving crap. People work all the time and get no award show, They should give the money they spend on gift bags and the show to the poor and hungry and maybe even help out the homeless vets and and stop patting themselves on the back, It is a job nothing more

Absolutely correct. And this Clooney guy is the biggest narcissist on the planet.

Well after Obama and Donald Trump he may be a distant 3rd or 4th

Instead of talking about Clooney,(who give's a s***), what about Morgan Freeman, who is a totally admirable actor with class, along w/ Sidney Poitier, Meryl Streep, among other's who have the talent and are dignified. STOP GIVING SO MUCH CREDIT TO THOSE TO MAKE THE AWARD A JOKE!

A friend of mine works in the Movie industry.... Clooney is Gay!!! Of course what normal heterosexual man would get up onstage and talk about Fassbinder's anatomy..... Gay gay gay !!!! Excuse me it is so obvious! He never has an A-List actress as a date ! And Leonardo playing J Edgar Hoover was FAR better than Clooney's SURPRISED...SAD expression in the movie !! He plays the SAME part has the SAME expressions in every movie... Woody Allen " the master" had the right idea.... Stay home... and Meryl Strep outfit...comeon did she just clean the house and throw on a moo-moo... I thought her buttons were gonna pop!

Actually, Clooney's comment regarding Michael Fassbinder was spot on. Have you SEEN the movie "Shame" which includes several lengthy full-frontal shots of Michael's....errr...
"endowment"? He COULD play golf without a club! LOL-- Americans are SO prissy about nudity...
