After sweeping the Emmys in September and taking home the Golden Globe for Best TV Series, Comedy, can "Modern Family" really be stopped?

The popular TV comedy took home its first Golden Globe Sunday night, after premiering in 2010. Accepting their golden statue was showrunner Steve Levitan, along with some bilingual help from series star Sofia Vergara. The duo accepted the show's Globe in two languages, with Vergara comically repeating Levitan's words in Spanish. Of course, Vergara took a few liberties with her translation.

After accepting their Golden Globe, the cast took to the press room to strike a few victorious poses. Take a look at some of the cast's best poses below.

I watch two sitcoms and this is one of them. Good writting, there has never been an episode where I didn't laugh. The acting is great, especially for a sitcom. At this rate I hope it has a long run something along the lines of Frasier or Cheers.

Where are the Evangelicals commenting on how this show is destroying America with its portrayal of a happy same-sex couple lovingly raising a daughter, and integrated into a larger, completely accepting extended family? Where are the calls to boycott this evil threat to biblical morality? Where are the Rick Santorum supporters?

Their silence is refreshing and probably a tacit admission they have nothing to say -- Modern family is the face of modern America and its influence is 1000 times more powerful than the waning, desperate bleatings of a dwindling minority of bigots. Not trying to stir up things, just making an observation ;)

"Modern Family" is a rarity—a television series that deserves all the accolades it receives.

I can't watch the show because the jiggly camera makes me seasick. Even watching the short clips will do it.

Still like Modern Family....but they're starting to try to hard to live up to expectations which becomes annoying especially Julia, her son her husband and Sophia. Tell them to calm down they'll last longer.

I agree. When it first came, I wasn't a big fan, and I stopped watching. But then I rediscovered it recently, and I fell in love with it. :D

Do people under 65 still watch a lot of television?
08:43 PM on 01/16/2012
Maybe not people under 30, but I'd say the 30-65 demo is still watching plenty.

Modern Family is unwatchable. The Middle is a thousand times better.

Unwatchable? Really? I like The Middle, but Modern Family's better written and filmed.

Funny, I feel exactly the opposite.
The Middle is completely predictable.

It's a terrific show, deserving of everything it has gotten. The casting is great and the writing is absolutely wonderful.... something that is sorely lacking in the 'entertainment" of today. There are far too many of the "reality" shows, which are the equivalent of the television passing gas. Those horrible shows are made for people with about a first or second grade mentality.

Actually: Steve Levitan took "liberties" translating Vergara's words. She started the speech and he finished it...unless you speak or understand Spanish, you wouldn't really know what she was saying. Hers was the actual "thanks," and his was the joke version.

Shouldn't we move beyond the ideas?

It was pretty easy to understand her, she was just thanking people saying their names. But you are totally right, he was doing the "lost in translation" to what was pretty obvious to everyone.
