I googled dr.pepper/snapple and it brought up this website. It even showed a sentence talking about dublin d.p., but I can't find any reference to it in the article. Did I miss it?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/facebook/6966628/Facebooks-Mark-Zuckerberg-says-privacy-is-no-longer-a-social-norm.html

Zuckerberg has made it clear that he couldn't care less about the privacy of Facebook's users and won't even *try* to protect them from being sold out to other companies. The latest he's trying to sell his users out to is Politico. Look it up. Facebook is a nightmare.

I love how Facebook is on the list even though such a huge percentage of the US has a Facebook account.

I think people hate the people running Facebook because they don't care about any the privacy of their users. They are trying to force users into sharing more information than some want to so they can sell them out, basically. But like it or not Facebook is a way of life for a lot of people right now.

I foresee a huge boycott coming in Facebook's future. They keep pissing off their money source too much, and I think they're going to end up in Netflix territory soon enough.

since corporations are people.. why dont we just skip the middle man.. and elect goldman sachs for president?

We essentially have this with this admin's closeness to Wall Street. Remember Corzine?

waste of time.. dont go to the link to the rest of the article unless you want to read about how hated the post office is cus it costs the tax payers so much money.. i saw that.. and no sense reading anything else. The post office is a national treasure. Its job is deliver the mail.. not profit.. it pays for itself or could pay fori tself totally with stamp sales.. just adjust teh cost of the stamp to reflect actual costs to do their job.. deliver the mail.. and it would still be better than any for profit alternative cus their goal would be profit not to deliver the mail.. they would cost more.. and deliver less. and the us citizens would pay for it in the end..

anyone that attacks the post office is .. what is wrong with this country. and why it's going to ruin.
10:25 AM on 01/17/2012
I agree with most of your comments. The article said the Postal Service has cost the taxpayers billions. This is news to me. As for the service, I'd like to see one of the high flying FEDX, UPS, etc., make money, if they had to do what the USPS is mandated to do, i.g. deliver the mail to every person with a box, come rain or shine, no matter where they are.
10:44 AM on 01/17/2012
While I think the post office is a national treasure, that does not negate that it is poorly runned and costs too much money. It is not unpatriotic to expect the post office to change with the times.

After reading the headline and before even reading the story I knew, I just knew AT&T would be on top of that list. In my entire life of all that companies I have had to deal with, AT&T is the absolute worst. Fortunately I was able to cancel (at a mere cost of $139) my phone service with them (because every other called got dropped) but still have my internet service because there isn't any viable alternative.

The only way to impact the companies that are the most disliked-- is to boycott their products. It worked in the 1970's and it sure will work now. Anything that effects their bottom line ---will get them to change their customer service policies. And the CEO will be voted out by the board of Directors. Which is a win for the consumers.
10:47 AM on 01/17/2012
You don't ahve to go all protester on them. If you don't like them just stop patronizing them and they will change or go out of business. The free market is really that simple. No organizing protest needed.

I guess you really do not know what the word boycott means----definition of boycott below.
:

A boycott is an act of voluntarily abstaining from using, buying, or dealing with a person, organization, or country as an expression of protest.

So really your comment was redundant.

And yet everyday Americans still do business with these companies even when alternatives are available and easy to switch over.
10:51 AM on 01/17/2012
Then maybe those Americans do not put high value in the items the article uses to deride the companies. For example, if you lived in Chicago or Dallas and flew American you would likely not have the problems cited that much. You would not be connecting so on-time departure and arrival is not as impactful as if you needed to connect. Likewise if you do not check bags, the poor baggage handling will have little effect.

The list is just one person's rating based on chosen attributes. There is obviously some reason people choose them over competition if they companies stay in business.

What about Chase? What about cigarette companies (responsible for astounding de.ath rate) insurance companies, and fast food companies that are helping ki.ll a whole generation with obesity?

Also, we are renovating an industrial space into a live/work space and recently bought a complete kitchen (for 50% off) at the Sears outlet, and have not one bad word to say about them. Customer service was good, delivery was on time, and also the guy who came out and fixed our old washer did a fine job. So I can think of lots of companies who are more ha.teful.

Bingo. I was wondering at the absence of those, as well as Archer Daniels Midland, Monsanto, etc.

Please add Dr Pepper/Snapple to that list. Since 1891 the Dublin Bottling works in the tiny town of Dublin, Tx has been licensed by Dr. Pepper to make the sugar cane version (the original) and bottle it as DUBLIN Dr Pepper. SINCE 1891! Last spring Dr. Pepper decided to pull the plug on it's associate company and sued Dublin DP for trade mark violations.

Rather than face an expensive court battle Dublin Bottling shuttered it's Dr. Pepper operations. This tiny town depended on this fabulous 120 year old Texas tradition. A number of employees lost their jobs.
There are only a few bottlers in the US that make the original sugar cane version. Dublin DP was known throughout the world. Bitter sweet after taste. I won't drink another Dr Pepper again.

Did the people at Dr Pepper give any reason why they were pulling the plug on its associate company? I can't understand why they would put an end to a profitable 120 year agreement.
04:01 PM on 01/16/2012
It's all about greed.

From MSNBC Money:

Dr Pepper Snapple Group (DPS -0.37%), which owns Dr Pepper, sued the plant in June, saying Dublin Dr Pepper was diluting the Dr Pepper brand and hijacking sales from other Dr Pepper bottlers, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Diluting the brand? Consider this: The Dublin bottler had sales of $7 million a year. Dr Pepper Snapple Group had sales of $5.6 billion in 2010. And, the Journal reported, Dublin Dr Pepper makes up less than 1% of Dr Pepper's annual U.S. volume.

But those numbers would not sway Dr Pepper Snapple Group. And as the lawsuit headed to a bitter settlement, it became clear that Dublin Dr Pepper would shut down. The world's oldest Dr Pepper bottler has now changed its name to Dublin Bottling Works. It will no longer produce Dr Pepper.
