'SNL', Daniel Radcliffe Do Harry Potter Ten Years Later (VIDEO)

First Posted: 01/15/12 10:38 AM ET Updated: 01/15/12 10:38 AM ET

When child stars enjoy a meteoric rise in fame, the downhill ride often is not pretty.

With that in mind, "SNL" took the opportunity of having Daniel Radcliffe host the show to provide an alternate, perhaps, more realistic version of the end of the Harry Potter saga. Perhaps the boy who lived will one day be the boy who peaked too soon.

It's the year 2020 and a new class of young wizards are being introduced to Hogwarts, and Harry Potter is eager to regale them with his legendary tales of danger and bravery. The only problem is, everyone's kind of over it. Even his best friends, Hermione and Ron, who are now teachers at Hogwarts, think Harry should give it a rest and move on.

Check out the full clip above and tell us who your favorite "SNL" Harry Potter character was.

Luna's line about Hagrid was hilarious!

According to the book they graduated in 1998, so ten years later really should have been 2008.

EPIC FAIL on the writers. If I were Radcliffe I would have corrected this while rehearsing this lame skit. At least it would have gotten their facts in check.

I could tell from the ads they ran that SNL was going blow their greatest opportunity ever, and this proves it. Eight films worth of material to draw from and they couldn't come up with anything better than this? Fire the writers.

Yep, the blew it, especially seeing as DR is such a great performer. The funniest bit was when he came out as Casey Anthony's dog.

That bomb was not Daniel Radcliffe's fault

great concept, but the execution of it was one-dimensional, and that dimension was not particularly funny.

Not funny, but holy moly....Bill Hader sounds exactly like Alan Rickman! Amazing!

i think if you have the real Harry Potter and you want to do some jokes about HP getting old and leaving in the past that it would be pretty easy to do that...of course if you're on SNL, then you're screwed.

Well that sketch landed with a resounding "meh."

Radcliffe was actually funny... Despite the cringeworthy execution of the sketch's concept.

I admit...I'm 50 and I DID watch all the Potter installments. And yes..I enjoyed them haha. I understand they were spoofing and (as the British say) having a piss at this but, it wasn't all that funny. I just enjoyed seeing Daniel have fun at himself. He seems a nice young man

I hope he can break free from the handcuffs of a role such as this one. I wouldn't want to see him typecasted for the rest of his life in HP like roles. Its the death of any actor.

I don't think that's going to be much of a problem for him. He's already received good reviews for his work on the stage, including having the lead in "Equus" at the Gielgud theater, and "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" on Broadway.

Besides two runs on Broadway - he has a movie "women in black' coming out in a few weeks - plus just signed up to do another one - and they all appear to be very diverse

He was even better on the Weekend Update bit. Google it.
