Water Droplets Images Captured In High Speed Photography By Jim Kramer (PHOTOS)

Jim Kramer may be an amateur photographer, but you'd never know it after seeing his amazing water droplets photos.

With food coloring, water, and dishwater soap to help thickening the water, a drop of liquid explodes into a multicolored splash in these incredible pictures taken at a ten thousandth of a second exposure.

Using a timer to track the path of falling drops, a flash is set off at the exact split second of impact and captures the shot.

What attracted Kramer to high speed photography? The variety of shots he can achieve.

"The water always behaves differently. That's what keeps things interesting," Kramer said. "Like snowflakes, no two are ever the same.".

Other notable photographers shooting in this realm include Divino Codino and Corrie White.

Check out a selection of Jim Kramer's water droplet photographs below.

Just stunning Jim, thanks for the great pleasure. These take my breath away in the same sense as the one other time I felt this wonder. I was about nine [50 years ago] and outside in winter, sitting at the top of a snow drift in our yard. We had huge drifts as we were surrounded on 3 sides by corn fields. As I sat there I looked down the crest of the drift and it's perfection while the wind continued to swirl little puffs around it, thinking no one could do this but nature, it would be impossible to make it anymore perfect. It was the first time I felt I was experiencing what people call God. These pictures remind me of that wonder in nature, the photos give us a rare opportunity to observe, but the action is an exquisite perfection we cannot create ourselves. Thanks for the peek at it, reminding me there are truely beautiful things in this world.

Here's one of mine. It's called "Earth Drops."

I did it with one remote flash and just timed the drops coming out of the faucet.

With the proper back lighting, every waterfall, sheen or spray of water reflects its surroundings of blue skys, the green trees and wild colored flowers like a mirror. The flowing water form radiates your pictures with such bright sun soaked light that the images you can capture create a new world of water sculptures according to your shudder speed and angles. And the human forms that water can mimic could fill a gallery. It appears that these over priced magic cameras that always take the best pictures with computer corrections built in are winning most of the International awards. Isn't it always the case? But at eaglearts.us, an array of natural color fills each waterfall photographed sculpture showing another diminsion...a new venture awaits your challenge!

I'd love to see slow motion footage of these as well.

Time Warp (Discovery Channel) did a segment with Martin Waugh a while back. It is very interesting. I doubt I will ever possess the equipment necessary to do high speed video. It's pretty expensive.

This man has been doing this style of photography for years. He built all his own equipment.

Franz is a genius. I have known him (internet) for a couple of years. He originally inspired me to try some dancing water sculptures, which involves liquid on a woofer. Makes for some interesting shapes.

Like beautiful handblown glass or the flowing tentacles of the man o' war with exquisite bursts of extraordinarily rich color. Art in photography..

Such negativity...If it is so easy...try it sometimes yourself. I think they are beautiful. Everything has it's moment and these droplets had theirs, they can never be the same ever again, no matter what you try, no matter how hard you try, they are gone forever, yet this person has managed to capture them for a second on film to share them. Good job Mr. Kramer...they are beautiful, and now, but for you, they would be gone!

you're most welcome! I love photography, I have taken still photographs of things like a flower and have had to take many many shots to keep the water droplets on the petals from looking blurred. This was great work.

When I took a photography class we had an assignment to stop motion. I have droplet pictures taken at a waterfall. It took 2 packs of paper to get the right picture. LOL

Wakeup, you're right there. I finally went digital because it was just getting so expensive and I always felt like I was losing what I wanted to capture and could never get back to that place again. The ultimate frustration is trying to get the sunset exactly right over a mountain over a waterfall in the evening and not getting it right the first couple of shots because it is just gone.
