'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' Poster & Behind-The-Scenes Video

First Posted: 01/16/12 01:20 PM ET Updated: 01/16/12 01:58 PM ET

The politicians running for the Republican nomination are all doing their best to emulate Ronald Reagan, but it'd be a lot more fun if they were working on their best impersonations of Abraham Lincoln.... Vampire Hunter.

Ben Walker plays the blood sucker-killing 16th President of the United States in the upcoming big screen adaptation of the Seth Grahame-Smith novel; having already played a funky president in the Broadway rendition of "Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson," Walker now packs a wooden stake and a mean sense of vengeance as Honest Abe. The film, directed by Timur Bekmambetov, tells the story of Lincoln's "secret life," which involves, from an early age, stalking down and eliminating as many vampires as he can.

And you thought he just defeated the Confederacy!

Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Mary Todd Lincoln), Anthony Mackie (Lincoln's friend William Johnson) and Dominic Cooper (Henry Sturges, his vampire mentor) co-star in the film, which is due out in June. Check out a special behind-the-scenes video, and then a poster from the film below.

Hollywood, like Washington, is a vast wilderness of based over ideas!

From what I hear this movie is just about as factual as Bill O'Reilly's book on Lincoln.

Who doesn't love a vampire movie!  Throughout the history of films, vampires have been the most filmed subject.

I don't. Talk about wearing a subject out!

Enough with the vampires already! It is so over done, that it is too late even for parody.

The history of film has proven that the subject of vampires never goes out of fashion with the audience.  Everybody loves a good vampire story.

I was a bit disappointed in the book. Love the idea though.

This shows you how far the Republican party has fallen, from the party that freed the slaves, to the party that wants to effectively enslave anyone not rich; from vampire slayers, to actual vampires.

I saw Walker in BWay in Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, I hardly recognized him. He must have sat for hours in makeup.

The great thing about the book is, if you remove the vampire stuff, it's still a passably accurate biography of Lincoln. (More than O'Reilly's, anyway.)

While incredibly awesome, Americans are now going to believe Lincoln was really a vampire hunter. Americans are not bright.
