Madonna Wins Golden Globe For 'Masterpiece;' Fights Ricky Gervais, Elton John, David Furnish, Lady Gaga

She may be the queen of pop, but Madonna isn't getting along with Hollywood lately.

The singer nabbed the "Best Original Song" Golden Globe last night for her ballad "Masterpiece," which she co-wrote and sang for her film "W.E." to the chagrin of many, especially Elton John's husband David Furnish.

"Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit," Furnish wrote on his Facebook page. "Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism. And her critisism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is."

But Madonna doesn't take insults lightly. When Ricky Gervais introduced Madonna as being "just like a virgin" as she headed to the stage to present the award for "Best Foreign Language Film" she said, "If I'm still just like a virgin, Ricky, then why don't you come over here and do something about it? I haven't kissed a girl in a few years -- on TV."

Of course, her recent slam against Lady Gaga for her 2010 tune "Born This Way," thought to be transparently similar to Madonna's "Express Yourself," can't be forgotten. "I thought, this is a wonderful way to redo my song," she told ABC News in an interview with "20/20." "I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was... interesting."

The pop legend has had a busy start to the year. In addition to basking in the glory of her directorial debut, her album "M.D.N.A." is set to hit in March.

"I mean, I recognized the chord changes..."

Ha ha ha ha. Like she's "written" ANYTHING of ANY value whatsoever. Has she been IN THE ROOM whilst producers, engineers and REAL musicians "wrote" her derivative "hipster" garbage? Yes. Voila! Writing credit! At least "Lady Gaga" can actually SING AND REALLY play an instrument, not just use one as a fashion accessory. Her music is no more transcendent, but it's at least refreshing that she HAS musical ability and not JUST an ability to ape street trends. Sound familiar?

Please you sad troll... go away.

Well, as these awards are easily bought and paid for, Madonna clearly paid more to be winner.
I wonder how much the Johns' lost trying to buy out Best Song . . .

Actually, looks like NO ONE has a sense of humor, least of all Elton's disgruntled husband.

Elton John was famous for his cheesy ballads, he is trying to stay relevant by joining the Disney empire...going downhill really fast.

No matter what Madonna may do or say, no matter the level of her talent, no matter whose work she disses or how far below the belt her punches land, nothing in her behavior can ever match for sheer nausea-inducing disgust Elton John's agreeing to entertain Rush Limbaugh and his guests at the shock jock's wedding. I've been waiting for Mr. John to offer a valid reason for him to prostitute himself and his beliefs and life choices, hoping that he would announce a charitable donation with the proceeds collected from his appearance. If such an explanation has been forthcoming, I've yet to read it, so I can only conclude that he shares with other prostitutes the same motivation: reaping personal financial rewards. The crucial difference, however, is that prostitutes often need such rewards to live, afford the means to a better lifestyle (such as schooling), or keep them and their extended families' heads above water in this impossible economy. Elton John acted out of greed, plain and simple, and in doing so, his tacit approval of Mr. Limbaugh's odious, obnoxious pronouncements has decimated the admiration I once held of his talents. If, however, there's a piece of the story I'm unaware of which can serve to exonerate Mr. John, I'm perfectly willing to eat my words. But short of that, I consider his character as diminished and ephemeral as "a candle in the wind," blown out by his own lack of spine.

Stop insulting prostitutes as they are doing what they must to survive. Elton does not ave that excuse.

If you'd bothered to read my comment thoroughly, you'd have seen that I take care to clearly make the distinction between Elton John's prostituting himself out of sheer greed and the practice of prostitution as a byproduct of surviving in these impossible economic times. I don't mind being criticized for what I've written and gotten wrong, but please, don't criticize me before reading my comment in its entirety.

Here, here!

I heard about the Limbaugh thing but didn't get irate about it until your great post and others. It's truly epic and damning. Rush Limbaugh? Disgusting! How dare they judge others so harshly. No wonder Mrs. and Mrs. John are so bitter, they have some big mistakes weighing on their minds.

Equally bitter and wrong are Gaga's gagastans. They have a website displaying a picture of a gorilla with a caption referencing Madonna's black adopted children from Malawi. These fans whine about bullying, they go on and on about Gaga's humility, integrity, and humanity, yet they resort to disgusting racism and other extreme tactics just to diss Madonna, and others

Funny thing is, the bitter John queens and the evil gagastans are doing a good job of making Madonna look quite reasonable and humble. Kind of ironic.

As Mae West famously said "Goodness had nothin' to do with it." Same holds true for Madonna. She has gotten where she's gotten by sticking up for herself. I drink to that.
