NEW YORK -- A New York City man who has admitted killing four people in a rampage of stabbings, carjackings and other crimes is due in court for an update on a lingering case: a subway slashing that authorities say came at the end of his violent spree last February.

Maksim Gelman has a court date Tuesday in Manhattan. It concerns only a subway attack moments before his dramatic arrest beneath Times Square. A passenger was wounded.

Gelman pleaded guilty in December to murder and other charges in the other attacks. Those killed included his stepfather and a woman whose friends have said Gelman was obsessed with her.

In a shocking interview with the New York Post, Gelman claimed to have murdered six other people as a member of a Brighton beach coke ring. He also expressed no remorse over any of his confessed crimes.

“After you kill one person, it gets easier,” said Gelman, 24, claiming that he ran over his first two victims when he was 18 and driving in southern Brooklyn.

Gelman is to be sentenced Wednesday for those crimes. They happened in Brooklyn. The subway stabbing is a separate case because it happened in Manhattan.

NEW YORK -- A New York City man who has admitted killing four people in a rampage of stabbings, carjackings and other crimes, is due in court for an update on a long-standing case: a subway slashing authorities say occurred at the end of his violent spree last February.

Maksim Gelman has a court date Tuesday in Manhattan for a subway attack that happened moments before his dramatic arrest beneath Times Square, where a passenger was wounded.

Gelman pleaded guilty in December to murder and other charges in other attacks. Those killed included his stepfather and a woman whose friends said Gelman was obsessed with her.

“After you kill one person, it gets easier,” said Gelman, 24, claiming he ran over his first two victims when he was 18 and driving in southern Brooklyn.

Gelman is to be sentenced Wednesday for those crimes which took place in Brooklyn. The subway stabbing will not be tried in Brooklyn, since it took place in Manhattan.

Although not born here, he happens to be an American Citizen and evidently came here as a child. His ethnic background has nothing to do with his crimes. Plenty of people who are natural born American citizens have done far worse things. Try focusing on the crime instead of making offensive ethnic slurs.
