Rosie O'Donnell Addresses Shark Fishing Trip: I'm 'A Friend Of All Animals' (VIDEO)

Posted: Updated:

Rosie O'Donnell addressed the controversy brewing around the shark fishing trip she took with her children on her show on Tuesday.

O'Donnell made the trip years ago before shark fishing was declared illegal. However, she recently caught fire from environmentalists when photos of her family with a dead hammerhead shark surfaced.

On Tuesday, O'Donnell delivered a mock public service announcement about shark fishing -- and it included a dig at Donald Trump. She said that her daughter caught a shark and it was small and slimy, so they threw it back. Even so, it came back to host "Celebrity Apprentice," O'Donnell said.

Then, she turned her humor on some tweets that attacked her for the trip, one of which called her a bad mother. On a more serious note though, O'Donnell said that the practice hadn't been illegal at the time, and that she wouldn't fish for a hammerhead again.

In one final twist, a man dressed up as an angry hammerhead head showed up to "occupy the Rosie Show." He threatened her children, or as he called them, the "veal of the sea." But Rosie insisted, "I'm actually a friend of all animals."

The two made peace. "Remember hammerhead sharks are endangered," O'Donnell reminded viewers. "Treat them well."
