All eyes are on the design world this month. First there's a competition on how to best use a pattern found on a Marcel Wanders pendant light, then there's a contest for finding the best design in everyday objects, and now the Core77 Design Awards have officially begun.
Launched last year by the must-read design site core77.com, the design awards showcases some of the most avant-garde creations by innovative thinkers, including designers, students, writers and consumers, from around the world. Last year, winning works ranged from a desk chair designed by Yves Behar for the manufacturer Herman Miller to a large-scale installation at the Art Basel Miami Beach art fair.
Something new this year, though, is the 17 categories have expanded beyond DIY, Technology and Interiors to also include 'Food Design' and 'Writing & Commentaries'. They're now accepting entries and, needless to say, we're a little giddy and can't wait to see all the fantastic ideas. Of course, we'll have our eyes on all the great DIY, furniture and interiors, but aside from that we're actually intrigued by what 'Food Design' entails...really.
Have a revolutionary idea that you want to enter into the Core77 Design Awards? Make sure you get it in by March 13 and find out all the other details here.
