A young Carrie Bradshaw rubbing elbows with the vampires of Mystic Falls? It could happen.

The CW has ordered three new drama pilots, "The Carrie Diaries" based on the "Sex and the City" prequel book series by Candace Bushnell; "Arrow," based on the DC Comics character; and a procedural version of "Beauty and the Beast."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the players behind "Hart of Dixie" and "Gossip Girl" will executive produce the series. Former "Sex and the City" writer and co-producer Amy B. Harris is adapting the book and will serve as the showrunner for the pilot.

Bushnell's book series tells Carrie Bradshaw's origin story as she tries to make it as a writer in New York. Samantha Jones is the only other main "Sex and the City" character to appear in the book series. Rumors of a "Sex and the City" prequel first surfaced back in September 2011, with EW reporting HBO and The CW were developing the project.

"Arrow" comes from "Green Lantern's" Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, will executive produce and write the project with "Fringe" co-executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. "Arrow" is described as a modern take on Green Arrow, the popular DC Comics character. But it's not Green Arrow's first time on The CW: Viewers may recall Justin Hartley played the character on The CW's long-running drama "Smallville."

The CW also ordered a pilot based on the early '80s CBS series "Beauty and the Beast," which starred Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman. According to THR, it's a modern retelling of the classic love story with procedural twist. "Felicity" veteran Jennifer Levin and "Brothers and Sisters" writer/producer Sherri Cooper will write and executive produce the project.

"Arrow," "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Carrie Diaries" join "Cult" as The CW's current pilots in development. The network is finally working on "Cult," a drama crime thriller, six years after passing on the pilot.

Who do you think should play the young Carrie Bradshaw?

NO BODY - leave it alone. We enjoyed the series and the films. So unless it's with the original cast, forget it - it will tank.

I would never watch the prequel, EVER. We all became attached to these women and watched them grow, through Samantha's cancer, her relationship with Smith, Carrie and Big, Charlotte finally finding love, and Miranda and Steve. They really screwed the fans over with SATC 2. Took a woman who had survived cancer and finally realized what love is and turned her into a menopause joke. Steve having an affair after all he went through to get Miranda? Ridiculous. Charlotte complaining about her life and whining kids? Never. And Carrie? The worst. She finally has the love of her life and she's telling him to get his feet off the couch. And to make matters worse, they took the girls out of NY. So listen up, producers, writers, SJP, or anyone who might read these comments. We DO NOT want to see Blake Lively and the new cast in a prequel. We are loyal fans who have followed SATC since the beginning and we want to see these women grow into beautiful women in their 40s and 50s. We want to see their love blossom, their problems, their challenges, and through it all, their friendship that remains steadfast. You ruined it for us with SATC 2. You took the characters we love and made them act in a way that was out of character. And now you need to fix it. Wrap it up with a well-written film that we can all laugh at, love with, and remember fondly.

I'd rather see a 3rd SATC movie with SJP, Kristin, Kim & Cynthia. Yes, I think it can be done and done well. This show will live in my heart forever....but I'm not sure a prequel is such a good idea.

I think the point is that it's NOT the same as SATC. Have the people commenting read the books? The information regarding who appears in the books are incorrect. Samantha Jones appears briefly in the first book, The Carrie Diaries and throughout the follow up, Summer & The City (if they were trying to rip off SATC they'd use this title), Miranda Hobbes appears in Summer & The City and Charlotte York appears at the end. I'm looking forward to it!

There was a Beauty and the Beast many years ago and it was a procedural.  The Sarah Connor actress and Ron Perlman.  It wasn't bad at all, but leave it alone now.  Perhaps the reruns ...

I don't think that is the plan.

And the SATC machine keeps rolling along. This is so typical of Hollywood: when you find a formula that works, milk it for all it's worth -- and keep milking even when it's past its prime. MGM did it with Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland and their "let's put on a show" films of the 30s and 40s. RKO did it with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, and don't forget the disaster movies of the 70s. And perhaps the biggest of all time: James Bond. It's the "Hollywood Way".
