Blake Lively At Haywire Screening: Love It Or Leave It? (PHOTOS, POLL)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 01/19/2012 6:55 am Updated: 01/19/2012 6:55 am

Blake Lively has famously said she doesn't want or need a stylist, preferring to rely on her own taste and gut instincts to get dressed (how novel!). She told Us Weekly just last month, "I don't work with a stylist... I just like whatever I'm feeling."

She also admitted to Florence Welch in Glamour this summer:

I think I became my own stylist by not knowing any better. And once I was told it was time to get one, I thought: This is one of my favorite hobbies! And I'm going to pay someone to steal my hobby from me? That's a terrible idea!

We think so too, Blake! Which means it's more interesting to see what the "Gossip Girl" star is wearing on the red carpet than other celebs, because at least we know she picked it out -- and is crafting her personal style -- all by herself.

Last night Lively stepped out for a screening of the new film "Haywire," choosing a warm outfit for a cold New York day. She paired a short-sleeve, silver sequined top with a nubby gray skirt, navy ribbed tights and black suede booties.

On the one hand, we rarely support the combination of so many different neutrals (navy, gray, black, silver...), and the skirt is a tad on the lumpy side. On the other hand, the mix of textures is awesome -- and how glamorously cozy does she look?

While no-stylist Blake occasionally misfires, this isn't one of those times.

What do you think -- how is the "Gossip Girl" doing without a stylist?

She a beautiful young woman who looks like she is having fun with life. Blake looks her age...

It only kind of works because it looks like fun and because she's flawlessly beautful. She always looks like she enjoys life.

Oooh, I love it. The tights, especially, really work.

Blake definitely "misses" at times, but that's because she takes chances and risks.

I've never seen her look this ridiculous.

I don't like the outfit at all. However, it might look better if the photo didn't look squished. That is the problem with a lot of the red carpet photos. People look shorter and squatter than they are and their outfits look weird then. Maybe if it is stretched out to normal size and her legs look a normal length than it would be alright.

Wow.. At least when we look back on how bad fashion was in the 70's and 80's you could blame it on the drugs....

Could be the photographer.
Should the person taking the photographs give up his day job?
Maybe.

Fashion is not life or death. Sometimes a dress or outfit appeals to you, sometimes it doesn't. I don't like this dress, but so what, we will all survive it.

Its not life or death....no. It is a part of their job though...

Yes, looking good is a part of her job. She probably thought the dress was just right, though. There's nothing to account for one's taste.

"Can Blake Lively Survive Without A Stylist?"

The larger, more important question is: Can I?

I don't like booties with dresses. They look clunky and ruin the leg line.

I think with tights they look ok but these tights are not flattering, IMHO.

Don't let the stylist bully you. You go Blake.

Her outfits have been more misses than hits lately. It might be time for that stylist, Boobs Legsly.
