Still working at the ripe old age of 90, Betty White has already acquired elder statesman status in Hollywood. Last night, on "Hot In Cleveland" (Wed., 10 p.m. EST on TV Land) she kicked it up a notch or two and played God.
After fainting in the hospital, Victoria Chase (Wendie Malick) had a vision of heaven and saw -- who else? -- Elka (White) as God. Amazed that she'd made it through the Pearly Gates, Victoria confessed that, "I've broken like a million commandments! I've coveted everything. ... I have pledged thousands to PBS and never paid!"
Meanwhile, God/Elka was perusing her clipboard and realized to her horror that she'd made a huge mistake. "I meant to summon Victoria Principal, not Victoria Chase!" Uh oh ...

I want to be excited about a new blue-collar sitcom starring Roseanne. But as it stands, I'm not optimistic. It's not that I don't have faith in Roseanne: on the contrary, I place most if not all of my faith in her. But I've been let down before.
As I was leaving the Hallmark Hall of Fame reception at 20th Century Fox' commissary, a studio guard wished me a good night to which I replied, "I can die now, I've met Betty White."
Betty White is a genuine comedy goddess. I should know -- I've worshiped this lady my entire life. Here then is one loving lifelong fan's playlist meant to celebrate a woman who at age 88 1/2 remains an inspiration and a hoot.
Although Levees was eager to discuss her views on aging, she was also candid on her thoughts on her marriage, the gay community, and, of course, Hot in Cleveland.
Hot in Cleveland is simply a nice stiff drink of what Hollywood does far too little of: showcasing mature women at the top of their game. And isn't it about time?
In an age that celebrates harlots over starlets, PYTs a quarter Betty White's age would require battalions of publicists to garner a fraction of the attention that she's attracting just by being Betty White.
