Mitt Romney And Tim Pawlenty Are Keeping Up With The Kardashians

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Mitt Romney campaign seems to enjoy making jokes about the Kardashians.

During an event in Charleston, S.C. on Thursday, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who endorsed former Massachusetts Gov. Romney, went off on a tangent about Kim Kardashian's husband, of E!'s "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" fame.

"You might think, Michele Bachmann and Tim Pawlenty are some of the best-known Minnesotans," Pawlenty said. "That's not true at all. The best-known Minnesotan is now the soon-to-be former Mr. Kim Kardashian, Kris Humphries. Remember him?"

Kardashian was married to Humphries for 72 days after a lavish televised wedding.

"And a lot of people feel sorry for him," Pawlenty said. "I don't want you to feel too sorry for him, I mean his marriage lasted longer than my presidential campaign."

Pawlenty then continued his speech on why Romney should be elected president.

It's not the first time a Romney campaigner mentioned a Kardashian.

"I've been looking at some video clips on YouTube of President Obama -- then candidate Obama -- going through Iowa making promises," Romney said of Obama's campaign in 2008 during a January speech. "The gap between his promises and his performance is the largest I've seen, well, since the Kardashian wedding and the promise of 'til death do we part.'"

His wife, Ann Romney, said in January that she thought the joke was "pretty funny."
