School Dress Codes: Texas Students Rap About Wearing Uniforms (VIDEO)

Texas high school students are "wearin' khakis on the bottom, and polos on top" (and still "lookin' fly") in a rap music video that actually manages to make school uniforms seem cool. Don't believe us? Watch it above to see their school-style swag and mad rhyming skills for yourself.

School uniforms and dress codes have been making headlines recently, as more and more public high schools consider implementing a uniforms-only dress code for their students.

We've seen some pretty amazing (read: totally hilarious) student-made rap music videos, and this one has quickly become a new favorite (and inspired us to break out our collared shirts!).

Does your school have a dress code? How do you feel about wearing uniforms? Share your thoughts in the comments below or tweet @HuffPostTeen!

My (public) high school was an all boys engineering high school. We were required to wear ties.

The teachers were not amused when I tried to wear a six foot black rat snake in as a tie one morning. I took it to a cage in the biology lab and put on my tie after I dropped it off.

For our class graduation picture we took off our shirts and put our ties back on.

When I was in high school we had to wear uniforms and it was a public school. The students didn't seem to like it much at first and some even arranged protests for it when they first implemented the new dress code, but the protests fell through, lol. It's really not that bad. It's almost like going to work (if you have to wear a uniform to work). Yeah people wear the same type of clothes, but we all managed to look different for the most part. We all got used to it. It was nice to not have to worry about what to wear, but by the time I graduated I had a lot of the uniforms left over and I felt like I wasted so much money on them. But oh well.

As long as the school does "casual days" then I think it would keep the students sane. At my school we would have to pay a dollar to get a pass to dress down once every while and the school would make a lot of money that way (school population of over 1000). It would usually go to a good cause (breast cancer, people in need, etc) or school activities (Senior Prom, winter formals, etc) and a great way for the school to make more money.

I used to wear uniforms at my school and I loved it! you didnt have to spend hundreds on clothes during the school year and when you wake up in the morning all you had to do was put on your uniform and go. It was so easy to get ready for school every day.

I've never gone to a school with uniforms. But I'm not a snappy dresser. I tend to wear the same thing everyday anyway. I did wear a uniform for 14 years in the Army. I liked it. I never had to demonstrate my lack of fashion sense and never had to remember anybody's name or rank.
My kids wore "uniforms" to school. It didn't seem to bother them. I don't think it's a bad idea. I don't think it's necessary either. But I can see how it helps parents especially. School should be about training to be a reasonably productive citizen, not about who has the best outfits. It also eliminates the incentive for some students to steal other students' clothing and shoes. Either way. We'll manage somehow.

Focus on learning, not what your friends are wearing.

today's teens are so lame. I have a feeling they will need a strong dictatorship to bring them into line.

If you think that dress codes are that stifling to your ability to express yourself, then you prolly don't have much to say to begin with. Every creative person worth their salt knows that limitations are a help, not hindrance, to creativity.

Real limits help. Adopted limits can "spark" creativity. But imposed limits are not something to "support" because there may be a positive (though obviously) unintended consequence.

my grandsons school went to uniforms.
so now hes in another school ,

socialisum at work in your schools.
stop it now.

that's good parenting. a kid whines about something, give him exactly what he wants. a good message on the value of school, too. hopefully this logic does not extend to his homework, otherwise he may end up misunderstanding the spelling and definition of "socialisum"...

I see no problem in a child changing schools.

There's no reason to "endure" something for which there is not a clear and present benefit solely for the "experience" of enduring it.

Probably the education is better in Cuba, like the health care. We may not like the "why" that's true...and it may be "un"American.

My daughter wears a school uniform and she hates them but I love it. Getting her dressed in the morning is hard enough if she could pick her own outfits. With the uniform, you know what you are going to wear and it is actually much cheaper. She doesn't need so many of the "latest" fads except for going to friend's houses. I have 2-3 changes of uniform that I keep washed up. But I do agree with the previous commenter that kids do still find a way to compete with each other. In the girl's case, who has what bags, purses and jewelry. But eat least they don't compete in the clothing dept and it is less costly.

I had uniforms all through high school... And yeah, they were uncomfortable and borderline ugly, but they also saved a LOT of time getting ready in the mornings! You can get used to pretty much anything, I guess. ;)

Dress codes even the learning field. I think its a great idea. But I ALSO think they should be free and provided by the school. School taxes (if being spent properly) should allow for them.
