Brian Downing Arrested: Alabama Fan Charged With Sexual Battery For Lewd Assault Of LSU Fan (VIDEO)

NEW ORLEANS — Jail officials have released on bond an Alabama man accused of committing sexual battery on an unconscious LSU fan after the BCS championship football game.

Court officials say Alabama University graduate Brian Downing of Smiths Station posted a $10,000 bond Friday afternoon and was released.

The 32-year-old surrendered to New Orleans police on Thursday night. He was booked on charges of sexual battery and obscenity.

A video of the attack that went viral on the Internet is believed to have been taken at a fast-food restaurant after Alabama defeated the LSU Tigers on Jan. 9. A man clad in Crimson Tide attire appears to be performing a simulated sex act on the LSU fan.

Downing's attorney declined to comment or have his client speak about what happened.

The other fans seemed to enjoy the show. The fan before this happened thought about the same thing and was stopped by a girl who also seemed to think it was harmless.She did recognize that a camera was filming and held the first fan back. I don't know if this was a Alabama thing or a frat party thing, but all of these people should be ashamed.

I was born and raised in Alabama, and I'm a PROUD BAMA FAN!! Everybody in the state of Alabama are not like this man. What he did is gross and disgusting and I hope he goes to jail over this! This man does not represent the state of Alabama, there are many wonderful people in this state! ROLL TIDE!!

I am from Alabama and moved away many years ago and find this to be more than disgusting!!! Not only should this person be held accountable and punished to the fullest extent of the law so should everyone in the area that did nothing to stop it!!!!!. What a sad, sad display!!!! I pray that the judge in this case handles the situation harshley. I am appauled that this happened and am truly embarrassed for the offenders family and am praying for the victim. There just aren't any words to say how disgusted I really am by this, this doesn't represent anyone I know from the state of Alabama. What a sad, sad end to what should have been a wonderful day for Bama fans.

@richardred- I live in Alabama, graduated from college, my children, husband and I have traveled in and out of the US, and I've never met anyone inbred either. Every area in the world is rich with culture and Alabama is no different. We have a permanent black eye from the 60's civil rights movement, and no matter what strives we make, we will forever carry this stain.
