Heather Locklear Secretly Checked Into Rehab Before Hospitalization

More insight into Heather Locklear's frantic hospitalization in mid-January has been revealed. Us Weekly reports that the actress had secretly checked herself into rehab after breaking up with longtime boyfriend and fiance Jack Wagner last November -- something that Wagner had repeatedly requested the troubled 50-year-old star to do while they were dating.

The report also claims that Locklear has isolated her friends through her drinking, quoting a source that says "Heather has been out of control for many years" and "she doesn't get out of bed most days... Jack kept her on the straight and narrow, but he couldn't keep Heather sober."

Locklear checked into Los Robles Hospital on January 12th after her sister made a panicked phone 911 call from the star's residence. The cause was serious stomach pains allegedly brought on by a cocktail of prescription drugs and alcohol.

Meanwhile, Locklear's family is reportedly pressuring the star to get professional help at the UCLA Medical Center after her much-publicized hospitalization. The first time Locklear is known to have checked in to rehab was in June 2008, when she spent four weeks at an Arizona clinic for depression and anxiety.

If she didn't get out of bed most days, who was bringing her the booze? Alcoholics can only maintain their habit if they have an enabler. That person (or persons) generally thinks they are helping, when they actually are killing the one they care for. Alcoholism, if not properly treated, is always fatal, usually from accident, cirrhosis of the liver, or brain damage. Most people don't even know that alcohol destroys the brain.

I simply cannot understand how someone beautiful, intelligent, wealthy - someone who`s had all the breaks in life...can find themselves depressed. I do feel sorry for her, but when one can have anything in the world that their heart desires, can go anywhere in the world they want, do anything they want...how ?

Alcohol is a depressant. It begins depressing inhibitions, which gives the appearance of a "pick me up," but it causes overall depression. Withdrawal is even worse. She probably began drinking thinking it was fun, but then couldn't handle it.

Heather is a human being like us and with that comes emotional problems, addiction and feelings. She is not an alien, shes a human being. No matter how much money you have doesn't mean you don't or cannot have mental problems, psychological or emotional problems. You can have everything you want in life, but just because you have money and success doesn't mean you have happiness or no problems. money can't buy happiness. Heather is just like us we all have our own problems and we all cope differently. Her way is the way that most celebs use and thats having an addiction problem to get away from their own problems. She is not the first celeb to be this way and she will not be the last. Most celebs have drug and/or alcohol problems just like normal people like you and I.

I do hope she gets the help that she needs. She has a beautiful daughter that she needs take care of and be there for and to also see her daughter get married.

I totally agree with you. Money does not buy happiness. It sounds like she was lonely, and the break up of her relationship didn't help her. She really hasn't made any movies for tv so maybe she feels her career is going downhill, no offers. It is really sad and I truly hope she gets the help she needs and friends will reach out to her and give their support.

How very sad about Ms. Locklear. I would have given my eye teeth at one time to just be friends with her. And now I still would, if she recovers her addictions . It is a shame for a gal as pretty as her to be depressed enough to go over the edge, sort of speak. I saw this happen with my sister who is also georgeous, and I helped her through it. It is a grueling endevour that must be pursued for the sake of a loved one who suffers. My best wishes, and God's speed for a speedy recovery Ms. Locklear. Fj

You have to hit rock bottom before you're finally ready to check into rehab. Sadly for most serious addicts, as long as they have an escape route, ANY escape route, they won't surrender and get help. The prospect of letting go of their addiction is simply too frightening for them.
She may end up dead before she ends up in rehab. Won't be the first time a serious substance abuser chose dying over getting better. Beauty has nothing to do with it at all.

YEAH! , looks like I got thru. I have a psycho hacker dogging me Try living with that! For eight years nearly daily someone rifles thru my car and "abode" and has begun stealing important items! I too divorced for the wrong reason (though he was not as great a match as monsiour Sambora) but if I had the money, I would turn to social causes and trying to help those less fortunate. Once you stop drinking, it is easier. However there is no reason to go out anymore when you can't get blitzed - I will admit.

I go out and play music in clubs. And I don't drink. I do when I wish, but not when I play.
It's easy when you have your priorities in order. When I was younger I drank when I played, but learned it wasn't working well.
I also work a soup kitchen, and have for about a dozen years.
Faust wanted to find out what happiness was, and sold his soul to the devil for it (with an escape clause, which he used).
Do something for somebody without anything in return, without them even knowing it was you, or without them knowing your name.
It's just good.
She has money, fame, power.
She hosted a fund raiser for Newt Gingrinch years ago, which may tell something.
I wonder if she's gotten any support from him about this.

I keep trying to access a note to Ms. Locklear. Watch out who you are associating with. They are or may not be acting in your best interest. it was a mistake to divorce Ritchie, Richie? and your fan club would not allow me to try and explain why. Looks like your plastic surgeon screwed up. I suggest re-doing and putting the pieces back together. You cannot replace your marriage and it is hard to overcome, but you must try - sober. Who could replace a guy like that? We are all older but there must be something else to live for!

keep trying to post something to Ms. Locklear but keeps getting wiped out. I just want to alert her to the fact her fan club and confidants may not be acting in her best interest. I hope she takes a look at those people who influence her and gets herself to a great place - where she once was - seemingly! Life goes on though breaking off with Mr. Sambora was a big mistake - as far as I know -, she can get past it.

So if he had decked her would that be okay? Would you feel better about him if he blocked it and then laid her out? It sounds like he had done everything to help her that he could and that probably included not fighting her.
