Paula Patton

We couldn't take our eyes off Paula Patton at the Golden Globe awards last week. Not only did the "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" starlet look phenomenal in her strapless Monique Lhuillier gown, we loved her subtle yet stunning makeup.

That natural glow was achieved with the help of CoverGirl makeup artist Fiona Stiles.

"We wanted to keep the look light and pretty, focusing on lashes and cheeks, playing up the happy element of the color," Stiles explained on her blog.

HuffPost Black Voices had the chance to catch up with Stiles--who has also worked with Halle Berry, Gabrielle Union and Rashida Jones--to ask her what products every gal should have in her makeup bag and what it's like working with Paula.

How long have you worked with Paula?

"It's been a few years now. The first project we worked on together was when she was a guest editor at Vogue. It was around the time she shot the movie "Mirrors" with Kiefer Sutherland."

Paula was recently named a CoverGirl Queen Collection Brand Ambassador, so we know she is a fan of the products. What is like working with her to create all her radiant beauty moments?

"Paula loves fashion and she also loves makeup, so she's always willing to experiment.--she really likes to mix it up. It's a collaborative effort working with her, which is fun for me."

Does Paula have any specific products that she absolutely adores?

"Paula loves blush! She likes a fresh rosey glow. Paula is a fun, vivacious person. Her personality on the red carpet is her true personality. She's just a bundle of energy and life, which ultimately shines through in her looks."

Are there any rules women of color should stick to when applying makeup?

"I don't like to follow rules. It's all about having fun. Play with different color on the eye or try a nice bright lip. But when it comes to foundation, I recommend having a least two different colors to create some depth. And keep shine to a minimum by using oil-free products."

How do we get Paula's natural glow?

"Pair bronzer and blush. Apply the bronzer over your foundation but under a peachy or pinky blush to achieve a more natural look."

Here's a look at some of the CoverGirl products that Stiles recommends having in your personal beauty arsenal.

That is not a natural glow, and personally I think she's wearing too much blush.

She is certainly a beautiful individual; but then so are we all, if, I said if, we take care of ourselves! That doesn't mean placing artificial lotions, masks, etc. on our already gorgeous faces. Using natural ingredients such as olive oil, and eating healthy, and exercising helps to maintain that youthful appearance.

"Get Paula Patton's Natural Glow"

Can someone please tell me why the writers of HuffPost always come off as naive 13-year-old girls?

This is an advertisement for war paint, and there is NOTHING "natural" about this manufactored "glow" brought to you by a CHEMIST OFFICE.
