Weddings may be held all over the world, but when it comes to Big Day details, each culture celebrates nuptials differently.

After all, not all couples prefer something borrowed or something blue -- or even a fresh-smelling bouquet, for that matter. Rather, some spouses-to-be opt for wedding customs based on their own country's traditions or superstitions.

While not every couple abides by their home country's wedding traditions -- some American brides, for example, will skip the Chicken Dance but keep the bouquet toss at their weddings -- many international brides and grooms weave elements of these Big Day customs into their ceremonies to pay homage to the customs of years past.
