Nancy Pelosi loves a good crab cake sandwich.

The Baltimore native had the chance to try her birthplace's most famous delicacy -- Fog City style -- during a recent visit to San Francisco food truck Doc's of the Bay.

And was she pleased with the results? "I felt that kinship right away," she said, sipping on an Arnold Palmer. "And pickles right from Cow Hollow? Why not!"

Our congresswoman spent her lunch break touring the new outpost of mobile eateries on Folsom and Second Streets as part of a renewed effort to explore San Francisco's onslaught of small businesses. Guided by Off The Grid founder and food truck extraordinaire Matt Cohen, Pelosi sampled the wares of some of the city's newest sect of entrepreneurs, learning about the special ingredients in the Phat Thai's famous pad thai and how the Doc's staff keeps customers on their toes with a lively Twitter account.

"San Francisco is a model for small business innovation," she told The Huffington Post during her tour. "It's entrepreneurial and it's optimistic. Food trucks are a great match."

But the exploding local food truck scene has recently faced backlash from other downtown restaurants, whose owners claim the popular meals on wheels take away from their lunchtime customer base.

For her part, Pelosi believes food trucks and restaurants can actually benefit from one another. "It's not competitive so much as it is complementary," she told The Huffington Post. "Someone who hasn't tried ramen before might then go to a Japanese restaurant."

Take a look at images of the Minority Leader's food truck foray below:

Is there not a single cosmetic dermatologist left in the city?

Notice the iPad used as a register? Several places here in Sonoma county are now doing that. Bluetooth to printer... servers at Hole in the Wall are using iTouchs to place orders tableside.
No wonder Apple's profits (announced today) were so far above those cranky analysts' expectations. Of course, they are wrong more often than right but that's another story.

A few weeks back I threw back too many beers (4 or 5 maybe six) in a watering hole on Polk. In comes this man with a bucket, towel on top. Best dollar tamales I've ever head.

Did ask the bartender if he knew the man. He nodded and gave approval of the tamales. The walking tamale wheel.

Pelosi was once one of my liberal feminist Democratic heroes. Then she turned to the dark side, by voting in favor of the NDAA. To the food truck drivers everywhere- next time you see Nancy, please ask her if she'd like to try your Habeas Corpus Hoagie. Then tell her you're fresh out.

She voted for a continued, annual funding bill?!?!?!?!?!?!? The horror! And she knew that Obama was attaching a signing statement saying his administration (the only one that would be in office during the purview of this bill) he wouldn't enforce any articles that had to do with detaining citizens? Dios mio!

Had the Democrats, including Obama, turned down the NDAA, the military funding would have simply been presented in another bill, or Congress would have been forced to make further changes to the NDAA. Either way, we needed to make a stand for habeas corpus but failed. Again.

I had high hopes for Pelosi, and would have marched into battle under her banner.
But she said impeachment of the vile Bush was "off the table."
How can mass crimes against humanity ever be off the table, in a civilized society?

At least we still have Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein, who seem to be holding up a little better against GOTP pressure. What ever happened to the feisty, proud-to-be-liberal Democrats? Aside from Jerry Brown, they seem to have all faded away. Ahhh, Jerry. Now he's the real deal. If only we could clone him.

Can someone explain what is so Green about these truck running their high smog generators all day and spewing untreated smoke into the air. Neither of these insults to the environment occur at brick and mortar restaurants. This off the grid nonsense is just so much greenwashing. The grid is a good thing that actually lowers pollution enormously, if we all generated our own electricity we would need another Saudi Arabia for the fuel and gas masks to breath.

It's the name of the chain of Organic Roach Coaches. And by roach coach I don't mean any connection to Doctors who prescribe medical marijuana.

I question the real impact of which you speak. Are you talking about generators? The trucks don't sit there and run the whole time that I know. But also, to say none of this occurs at brick and mortar restaurants is not true. Trucks make deliveries to those restaurants every single day.
