Obama's 2013 Budget Release Delayed

Obama Delays White House Budget

ANDREW TAYLOR   01/23/12 06:26 PM ET   AP

WASHINGTON — The White House said Monday that it's delaying for one week the release of President Barack Obama's budget for the 2013 fiscal year that starts Oct. 1.

The budget is traditionally released on the first Monday in February – which is Feb. 6 – but the administration has pushed the release to Feb. 13. An administration official said the later date was "determined based on the need to finalize decisions and technical details of the document."

After last year's failed attempts at budget deals, election-year expectations are low that Obama and Congress will be able to make progress this year on deficits that required the government to borrow 36 cents of every dollar it spent last year.

But House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., told reporters that he's hopeful Congress and Obama will at least be able to agree upon enough budget savings to forestall across-the-board budget cuts. The cuts are required in the wake of last year's failure by a so-called deficit supercommittee to come up with $1.2 trillion in spending cuts mandated by the debt limit agreement.

Obama is sure to preview new policy proposals in Tuesday's State of the Union address, and the subsequent budget release typically fleshes in the details.

Capitol Hill Republicans were quick to criticize the White House delay, saying it shows the White House isn't serious about tackling the deficit.

"If I were advising President Obama, I'd recommend less time campaigning and more time spent addressing the impending fiscal crisis," said Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio. "We need a budget with a responsible spending restraint and pro-growth reforms and we need it now."

Jacob Lew, budget director since late 2010, is making the transition to White House chief of staff.

To the morons who keep posting links to supposed "budgets" in 2010 and 2011 --- the HOUSE has passed a budget both years. The SENATE did not pass a budget. The budget is not fully ratified unless the SENATE passes it. We have been functioning on SPENDING RESOLUTIONS since 2009 because the DEMOCRAT-CONTROLLED SENATE has not passed a budget in 1000 days. Obama's own budget in 2011 was voted down 97-0 in the Senate.

Sorry about all the caps for the normal readers, but some of you idiots just don't seem to understand how our country works; without the Senate passing one, we do NOT have a budget.

What is wrong with the trolls in here?

There was a 2010 budget passed by congress.

http://articles.cnn.com/2009-04-02/politics/us.house.budget.passes_1_senate-democrats-house-vote-house-democrats?_s=PM:POLITICS

The 2011 budget was enacted on April 15, 2011, as Public Law 112-10, the Department of Defense and Full-Year Continuing Appropriations Act, 2011

Obama passes amnesty by executive order ,Opposed by a majority of the American people and twice defeated in Congress, the DREAM Act grants amnesty to any illegal alien residing in the United States if s/he agrees to enlist in the U.S. Military or enter college.

According to one of the first press reports to break this important story, the new Oba
ma policy is cut and dry: "federal immigration officials do not have to deport illegal aliens if they are enrolled in any type of education program, if their family members have volunteered for U.S. Military service, or even if they are pregnant or nursing."
Arizona and the voter ID law

Just recently Obama's Department of Justice (DOJ) blocked Arizona from enforcing its voter ID law.

First we have amnesty passed by executive order then we have President Obama 's DOJ blocking voter ID in Arizona . What could possibly be the president's motive?

Senate follows House, passes Obama budget plan for fiscal year 2010

The Senate passed a $3.53 trillion version of the federal budget for fiscal year 2010 late Thursday night in a party-line vote, ending several weeks of acrimonious partisan debate.

Congress Passes Budget for 2011, Sends to Obama for Signature

Congress on Thursday passed a long-awaited budget funding the government for the rest of the fiscal year, though dozens of lawmakers on both sides of the aisle voted against the compromise proposal.

The final vote in the House was 260-167, with 59 Republicans opposing the package -- one House Speaker John Boehner had touted as the best deal he could get out of spending cut-averse Democrats.

In the Senate, the final vote was 81-19, with 14 Republicans dissenting.

â—¦The last time the Senate passed a budget was on April 29, 2009.
â—¦Since that date, the federal government has spent $9.4 trillion, adding $4.1 trillion in debt [annual interest payments on the debt now exceed $200 billion].
◦As of January 20, the outstanding public debt stands at $15,240,174,635,409.
â—¦Interest payments on the debt are now more than $200 billion per year.

The truth is they don’t want America to see how much they are spending, especially in election years, which is why they’ve refused to do a budget in the first place.

96% of current Deficit Spending Comes from BUSH PROGRAMS:

National Debt Increased by 75% under Bush:

2001 - $5.871 trillion
2008 - $10.640 trillion

National Debt Increased 25% Under Obama:

Jan 31st 2009 = $10.569-Trillion
Jan 31st 2011 = $14.131-Trillion

But of the $3.56-trillion increase, 98% was carry over from Bush programs:

Bush: $910-billion = Interest on Debt 2009/2011
Bush: $360-billion = Iraq War Spending 2009/2011
Bush: $319-billion = TARP/Bailout Balance from 2008 (as of May 2010)
Bush: $419-billion = Bush Recession Caused Drop in taxes
Bush: $190-billion = Bush Medicare Drug Program 2009/2011
Bush: $211-billion = Bush Meicare Part-D 2009/2011
Bush: $771-billion = Bush Tax Cuts 2009/2011

Bush's contributions:

2001 to 2008: $4.769-trillion
2009 to 2010: $3.181-trillion

Total: $7.950-trillion

Increase Since 2001 = $14.131 - $5.871 = $8.26-Trillion

Bush's contribution: $7.950-trillion / $8.26-Trillion = 96%

Obama only contribution: $580-billion = Stimulus Spending (as of Dec 2010).

Increase caused By Bush's Programs: 96%
Increase caused by Obama's Programs: 4%

Who needs a budget when you can ignore your consitutional responsibility with impunity and still have unlimited access to other people's money. In other words, its still Bush's fault.

Bush had 52 consecutive months of employment growth and unemployment declined after recovering from the recession inherited from Clinton, with an average unemployment rate of 5.27%. At the end of his term he added 11.6 million jobs to the country over what Clinton’s highest year.

Now there’s Obama he had a 14 consecutive months of employment growth, due to temporary public sector job creation, and an average unemployment rate of 9.61%. After 2.9 years in office Obama has caused the loss of 10 million jobs since taking office and 10.4 million over Bush’s highest year.

Obama by far has created an environment that has caused higher unemployment and he can’t run from that record.

Are you better off than you were 5 years ago when the Congress and Administration was run by Republicans?

Interesting fact
The Constitution doesn't t clearly establish a budgetary process nor does the constitution spell out the presidency's role in the budget process. Because of this vagueness presidents have been able to bring much of the process under their control. However, Article I of the Constitution gives Congress power over taxes and spending, while Article II, Section 3, gives presidents the power to Recommend, Suggest, endorse fiscal policies but not necessarily create it. It wasn't until this last century that presidents have taken on the role of determining the federal budget. My problem is when Congress act, as if, the President was given this authority directly from the founding father while insinuating that President Obama isn't doing his job in regard to a power that is not allocated to him in the constitution.
