The following ranking of the top 20 cities where women earn the most was compiled from the 2010 American Community Survey by the U.S. Census Bureau, using the average earnings for full-time, year-round female workers in the largest metro areas in the U.S.

No. 1: San Jose, CA

Women's mean earnings in 2010: $67,052 Percentage of men's earnings: 72.7%

Not surprisingly there isn't one Southern city on the list. Cheap Southern labor hurts everyone, especially women and children.

I guess this is supposed to be progress, but when at best women are earning 77.8% of what men earn (in city #18 L.A.) and only 53.8% in #3 Bridgeport, CT I find this pathetic.
