Israel: Jewish Extremists Attack Woman

JERUSALEM — Israeli police say a group of ultra-Orthodox extremists have attacked a woman who was putting up posters in a troubled town near Jerusalem.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld says about a dozen ultra-Orthodox men in the town of Beit Shemesh surrounded the woman on Tuesday, pelted her with stones and slashed her car's tires. He says the woman suffered minor injuries.

Rosenfeld says it's not clear why she was targeted. The woman was putting up posters for Israel's national lottery at the time.

Beit Shemesh has experienced sharp tensions between ultra-Orthodox extremists and its remaining secular and modern Orthodox Jewish residents. The recent case of an 8-year-old girl who was afraid to walk to school because extremists spat on her and cursed her attracted international attention.

Israel, the nation, openly tolerates this violent behavior (well, duh!) because these OrthoJews
procreate in abundance. Israel needs the bodies; to repress the Palestinians, to fight and die
for their myths, and to build more walls and shoot more protesters. Since Israel is NOT a self sustaining economy, culture, or in any way destined for growth, they NEED those bigots.

That is not even logical.. by the same notion are you for the removal of the people from the violent ghettos? What purpose do those people serve....? So, because someone is boneheaded and bigotted they are less important? Your "enlightenment" is exactly on the same par as they are. What will be wrong is if there is no protection for the people who were harmed. People can change, but not upholding the laws of a lawful society is not forgiveable.

Just like Christian, Muslim, or any other "religious" fundamentalists; these deranged people are
only following the literal words of their religion, to demonize, punish, ridicule, and ultimately commit physical abuse on any people they disagree with, even their own. The Torah is a xenophobic, homophobic, misogynist, vicious and violent document; a manual of hatred. If telling that truth angers or inflames you, you have alread drunk that KoolAid. We need to acknowledge that our judiastic roots are as insane, bigoted, and dangerous as any other system of persecution. In fact, we jews are the grandparents of christian hate....they learned it from us. If our Highest Accomplishment is Israel; we have failed miserably. Israel is a monument to our "chosen people" myth, our fears, and our inhumanity.

Apparently you do not understand the difference between fundamental and fundamentalist.

Fundamental: Forming or serving as an essential component of a system or structure; central

Fundamentalist: A usually religious movement or point of view characterized by a return to fundamental principles, by rigid adherence to those principles, and often by intolerance of other views and opposition to secularism.

As for your claims that the fundamental intent of Chrisitanity is turning the other cheek and love your enemy, I would vehemently disagree. Christianity is filled with examples of prejudice and hateful behavior, especially towards women and minorities. As for Christian Fundamentalist, please look at some of our more current examples to see this "intent" at work....John Hagee, Rick Santorum, Westboro Church members....all fundamentalists who spew hate and prejudice. No different from any other religious fanatic.

Stereotyping is so much more fun than truth and facts, isn't it? We do not protect old men who spit on children. Israel is a very, very diverse society, that is safe in spite of the threats it must endure on a daily basis. I would encourage you to read a bit more, maybe the Jerusalem papers for a start... or better yet, get a passport and visit the world, you will be surprised what you find out here.
