Madonna's 'W.E.' New York Premiere Dress: Marchesa & Ruffles To The Max! (PHOTOS)

Madonna landed stateside last night to premiere her directorial debut "W.E." in New York at the Ziegfeld Theater.

We've been anxious to see what the Queen of Pop would wear for the American release of her movie. While the dresses Madge wore to the European premieres were a bit more understated, like the black and pink L'Wren Scott and the blue gown with Chanel leather gloves for a photocall, you just never know what's going to happen when you've got one of the world's most famous faces in front of the camera.

Let's just say she didn't disappoint. Madonna opted for full-on red carpet drama in a sheer black Marchesa gown with a lace and sequin encrusted bodice and gravity-defying ruffles on the sleeves.

Whoa. That's a lot of dress.

All she needs is a super long train on that thing and she'll be ready for the Met Costume Ball... oh, nevermind, she has one. Done!

How's this for a stark contrast. Steven Tyler is trending heavily, but harsh comments about his haggard look and hedonistic lifestyle are relatively rare. Society is pretty mean to celebrity women as they grow old. For god's sake we ALL get old and ugly. How can people taunt and judge another human being's aging process without totally loathing their own future self. They'll be shocked someday when they look in the mirror, maybe even get suicidal about it.

As for Madonna, and all of her off putting insecurities, in spite of it all, she's a pretty good functioning human being by most standards. The controversial days are over, she works hard, pays a lot of taxes, employs tons of people and seems to provide a good upbringing for kids. What's the problem?

You are so right. And people seem to especially enjoy bashing any celebrity woman who has the gall to date younger men. That brings out all kinds of deep-seated nastiness in people.

Madonna, please. Please. PLEASE die the black roots and stop using "buttery yellow" hair color, which does not go particularly well with your skin tone. You are -- or can be -- a stunning woman, but this ongoing hair "look" is not only unflattering, it's down-right slovenly.
