Multiple passengers were injured Tuesday in a crash involving a FedEx truck and a Miami-Dade Metrobus carrying dozens of passengers.

The two vehicles collided near NW 7th Avenue and 17th Street when, according to Miami-Dade Transit spokesman Karla Damien, the FedEx truck ran a red light and slammed into the Route M bus.

Miami Fire-Rescue and Miami Police confirmed 23 people are being treated for injuries. One passenger was observed being removed through a Metrobus window on a stretcher, and another was also strapped to a backboard.

"I was sitting in the back, and I just heard the screech and the slam; people were flying everywhere," bus passenger Daniel Perez, told WSVN. "Some people were lying around me, just make sure they were OK, sit back and there was somebody lying on the floor and said that they wanted to stay there, again just making sure that everyone was OK."

According to NBCMiami, 30 people were on board the bus, including a 16-year-old girl in a wheelchair who was sent to hospital. The FedEx driver wasn't injured, Fire-Rescue spokesman Lt. Iggy Carroll told Local10.

I Agree with Cvalido!!! and Joseph anyone can ran a red light, the fact is this drivers do work under lots of stresss! Also many people take advantage when they are involve in an accident specially if they see that the parties involve are "well known companies"

Im one of the FedEx Ground Driver im confirm what Cvalido says we are force to work long hours with a lot of stress with out any lunch scheduled or break, worse is for FedEx Home Delivery they have to load they own trucks they start driving very tired after load all those heavy boxes, making more stop and less pay, they always do the meeting and they say safety first the most important package are you guys be safe but thats a lie if you dont do the deliveries you get in trouble, they always are giving a pain to the contractor putting a lot of pressure on they heads, and the contractor are scare cause they can terminate the contract, its not right load those truck that you cant put a finger inside, is not right that you have to work everyday more than 8 hours without breaks, without overtime paid its not right, someone have to stop this how we dont know.

fed ex ground routinely hold drivers at the terminal not allowing them time to successfully service their routes. these are independent contractors who show up to work early every morning only to be delayed because fed ex ground sends loaders home before the job is done to save money. fed ex will say they hold safety meetings every week to prevent accidents, but in reality they hold these meetings only to cover their behinds and shift all the responsibility to the contractors. drivers work very long hours not being able to stop for breaks or even lunch due to schedules imposed on them by fed ex ground. accidents like this are the result of unnecessary stress placed on drivers to maximize profits not minimize accidents.
