State Of The Union Speech Text: Excerpts Released

State Of The Union Speech Text

Posted: 01/24/2012 5:59 pm

The White House has sent over embargoed portions of the President’s State of the Union Address, which contain a great deal of forward-looking economic vision and stem primarily from the same philosophical threads as Obama's much-discussed speech in Kansas several months ago.

There are no significant policy proposals in the embargoed excerpts but that's by design: this material is meant to whet appetites and dominate the news coverage in the lead up to the 9 p.m. address. The remarks are below:

"Think about the America within our reach: A country that leads the world in educating its people. An America that attracts a new generation of high-tech manufacturing and high-paying jobs. A future where we’re in control of our own energy, and our security and prosperity aren’t so tied to unstable parts of the world. An economy built to last, where hard work pays off, and responsibility is rewarded."

…

"….The defining issue of our time is how to keep that promise alive. No challenge is more urgent. No debate is more important. We can either settle for a country where a shrinking number of people do really well, while a growing number of Americans barely get by. Or we can restore an economy where everyone gets a fair shot, everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same set of rules. What’s at stake are not Democratic values or Republican values, but American values. We have to reclaim them."
…

"As long as I'm President, I will work with anyone in this chamber to build on this momentum. But I intend to fight obstruction with action, and I will oppose any effort to return to the very same policies that brought on this economic crisis in the first place.

No, we will not go back to an economy weakened by outsourcing, bad debt, and phony financial profits. Tonight, I want to speak about how we move forward, and lay out a blueprint for an economy that’s built to last – an economy built on American manufacturing, American energy, skills for American workers, and a renewal of American values."

…

"Let's never forget: Millions of Americans who work hard and play by the rules every day deserve a government and a financial system that does the same. It's time to apply the same rules from top to bottom: No bailouts, no handouts, and no copouts. An America built to last insists on responsibility from everybody."

Everything Obama said I wouldn't call a lie because the one thing he stated about inside traiding I think he stole from my facebook page.
I think we should all be sending our reminder notes to Obama so that he doesn't forget to show up for his Court Date in Georgia on the 26 th.
Has anyone noticed there hasn't been one word in the News Media about that case as of yet.
Some say put the treasonous Pig to Death!Hey Guy’s You do remember the man does have small children and we should show some compassion because their not responsible for their fathers action so they shouldn't be deprived of keeping their father. Now, Do I believe that Obama is deserving of a just punishment that you can bet on.
I firmly believe that Obama should be striped from power along with all of his governmental cohorts responsible for his fraudulent appointment to the presidency.
I do think that it’s more then appropriate that he be tried for High Treason and treated as a Spying Infiltrator, Terrorist and Enemy Combatant with the soul purpose and agenda of bring down our infrastructure of the USA.
An all expense paid lifetime membership to Gitmo via deportation would be a fitting vacation spot for the Obama’s

Good speech; we have seen it before. The consummate snake oil salesman. The progressive impulse he seeks to ignite proved before to be a lie.
In the words of the great "W" I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — [pauses] — shame on you. Fool me — [pauses] — You can't get fooled again.

Bla bla bla, BS....""A country that leads the world in educating its people. An America that attracts a new generation of high-tech manufacturing and high-paying jobs.""

Ask any teacher about our students, they are getting dumb and dumber, any 12 yo kid from India have a higher IQ than a Hi School graduated here, and then what he really mean about " high-tech manufacturing"? we can find any good CNC tech's anywhere, no one wants to work hard anymore, kids are too spoiled on our society

So-so. I guess anything other than "We've got to bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" will be Kosher, if you know what I mean. This country is being held hostage to a foreign entity and the sooner we realize, the greater the chances will be for avoiding WWIII. Ron Paul 2012.
