Yosemite Time Lapse Shows National Park's Sunrises, Sunsets (VIDEO)

First Posted: 01/24/2012 6:40 pm Updated: 01/25/2012 3:12 pm

Mother Nature is pretty spectacular on her own, but when her beauty is enhanced with technology, the results can be truly breathtaking.

This time lapse video of Yosemite National Park weaves scenery of the park's sunrises, sunsets and starry sky into a continuous, stunning tribute to one of the country's best-known parks.

The video was produced by Sheldon Neill and Colin Delehanty, two time lapse aficionados who met through video sharing site Vimeo and decided to take on what they dubbed "Project Yosemite."

The vistas were shot with a Canon 5D Mark II, with a variety of Canon L and Zeiss CP.2 lenses, according to the video description.

The men spent about 19 days in the park between September and November, sometimes braving harsh elements, to capture the footage they needed, according to the Atlantic.

On Jan. 21, windy conditions at Yosemite caused a tree to fall on an employee's tent, killing park ranger Ryan Hiller, according to the Associated Press.

Neill and Delehanty paid tribute to Hiller on their Vimeo channel.

Correction: A previous version of this article stated the time lapse showed footage of meteor showers. The clip shows scenery of the starry sky.

BEAUTIFUL. Thank you for sharing the time lapsed video. It gave me some peace after a stressful day.

I personally enjoy watching the sun rise in the mornings and sunsets can be even more amazing - when the horizon is colored in orange, gold and reds. An unpolluted night sky can mesmerize anyone with such shimmering stars and we all can agree that a full moon is also a thing of beauty. It's important to appreciate and take a moment everyday to look up and admire such perfection.

Was just there in November. Yosemite is an amazing friend I don't get to see enough of. Magical place.

Meteors move too quickly to be captured by time-lapse. The streaks are airplanes, which is especially evident when you notice that they seem to move in a "grid." It's a reminder that even in the wilderness, we are never far removed from the modern world!

Most of those streaks are nos meteors. They're airplanes.

Absolutely gorgeous. This is one of the most beautiful things I've seen in a while. And what better accompaniment than M83? As far as emotional pull is concerned, this was Strauss and Earth worthy, though obviously less artistic.

I can't believe it says "meteor showers!" They're obvious airplanes always following the same route!!! No rocket science here...

So beautiful - I feel very blessed to have been raised in California during a time when Yosemite was not as crowded as now. Truly one of the most amazing places I've been.

First time I went was the early seventies, long before the fires wiped out the forests, approaching up Hwy 41.

You got no clue what was ahead of you.

Driving through the dense forest on the windy road, and then entering the tunnel.

It was a clear, cool morning the first time I exited the tunnel that vista exploded into my mind, and it's never left my heart since.

If there ever was a living god walking our earth, this was his garden.
