Is Demi Moore's divorce taking its toll?

The actress was hospitalized on Monday night after reportedly suffering from an epileptic seizure. Sources tell TMZ that the 49-year-old actress is being treated for substance abuse issues.

Moore's hospitalization comes three months after she announced her plans to divorce Ashton Kutcher amid reports of his infidelity.

Moore isn't the first celebrity whose life has taken a negative turn following divorce. Here, five stars whose lives spiraled out of control post-split, from stints in rehab to public intoxication arrests.

I remember Demi from the movie "About Last Night" done here in Chicago. I was working as an extra in the bar scene and outside the bar. It was 30 degrees and we all had to wear light clothing. Demi and Elizabeth Perkins i think her name is, were at a table outside too. The crew was falling ALL OVER them putting 4 space heaters around them and throwing coats on them and blankets to keep the stars warm. Demi was THE ONLY ONE who kept asking us extra if we were ok. She even told the crew to put heaters by us! Inside the bar she was preparing for a scene she was so kind she spoke with all of us. Rob Lowe was kind too. Melissa Gilbert was there cuz she was dating Rob Lowe I went up to her and said "omg im such a fan of your work!" and she looked me up and down like I was a pc of crap and said "oh". But Demi was really sweet. I hope she can get over this YOU ARE DEMI MOORE! YOU ARE A STAR! you will find someone else but just get through this girl! Ill never forget meeting you that day and how kind you were to us freezing extras!

I feel for her. I as a man know the pain on discovering a wife's infidelity. She is no different than the rest of us. The lesson for her and other women and men is having a much younger partner is dangerous and has a high probability of failure.

Epileptic seizure??? Really? Does she have a history of epilepsy? Never heard that she had. I would suggest that she probably overdid some booze or drugs. Is she checking into rehab? Isn't that the next step?

Feel sorry for her but putting out spin and blather will not help her cope with reality, nor will the drugs. She obviously needs help. I seriously doubt that the split with Ashton has that much impact on her psyche, but who knows. She is a rather beautiful woman and vivacious, she can have her pick of any man. She is not going to hurt for companionship.

Demi has had substannce abuse problems on and off since she was 18 years old .. It has been well documented and she even said it herself in a couple of interviews over the years . I believe she has a self esteem problem after I read her interview not long ago she did for Harper's Bazaar and another magazine. She said . I never thought I was good enough,pretty enough ,talented enough or thin enough.. . My greatest fear is toward the end of my life that I will find out that I was never loveable and not worthy of being loved and that there was something fundamentally wrong with me .

Couple married 62 years. Both are intelligent, active, attractive, and successful. Many friends married 45 plus years who have lived through infidelity, financial difficulties, death of a child or children, care of aging parents, debilitating illness of spouse etc. etc. You treasure each day because this might be the last together. And you wonder where the years went.

So very sorry. Have two couples who are anticpating same with a son and a daughter both suffering from cancer. The real folk are the ones who should be written about for enduring all that life throws at them. This other stuff is just craziness. Pray for strength.

What does one expect from a younger man/ older woman romance or marriage? At some point that age factor catches up with you. But does anybody keep it together nowadays? Maybe 2% is a fair assessment. Look at all the glamour and money in Hollywood. Glamour has a lot to do with it. Too hung up on looks, too much competition out there. Two generations back you stayed married all of your life. Women worked in the home, took care of hubby and the kids. If the trade-off is worth it, depends on each individual.

Basically you are right. I suspect that hooking up with a much, much younger man made her feel young. She has no problem in the attractive area, for sure. But being in the movie/entertainment industry, youth is all important. There are few roles for women in the movies who are pushing 50. I guess that ought to serve as a warning to all of those 20 and 30 somethings out there. Make your cash and killing now and bank it away, the time will indeed come where there will be no more producers come acallin'.

You can laugh if you want to, but I really gain a lot of wisdom from all the Hollywood "Fountains of Wisdom" that preach good marraige tactics on TV one day (as Demi did) and end up divorced/seperated the next. In otherwords, "Do as I say; not as I do". What wisdom!!
