'Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best' Premiere: Plastic Surgery Rehab (VIDEO)

After Joan Rivers' most recent bout of plastic surgery, her daughter Melissa rediscovered what a pain playing nursemaid to can be on "Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best" (Tue., 9 p.m. EST on WE). She found herself chasing her mother all around the house, picking her up off of the bathroom floor, and having to watch her virtually 24/7.

Joan was trying to make phone calls and feed the dog Jell-O. She wouldn't keep the ice packs where they belonged, insisting instead that she was keeping it at her crotch. It was no surprise that she started joking about her vagina to anyone who saw the pair on "The View," where they quickly derailed the conversation into porn and jokes about lady-parts.

Joan talked with HuffPost Gay Voices about the new season of "Joan & Melissa," and about comments she made that some in the gay community considered to be transphobic. The outrage stemmed from Joan assuring Melissa she wasn't going in for "a Chaz Bono" with her latest procedure.

Joan had some choice words in her defense, but Melissa translated her intent in a more eloquent way. "When the gay community starts becoming overly sensitive and loses its sense of humor, we're all in deep s**t," she said. "They're the funniest people alive."

She reminds me of a woman who is so insecure that she has to change her looks to please others. What about a touch up, a nip and tuck? The serious and extreme face overs she has had makes her look plastic. Not natural, and puts a ghoulish appearance to her eyes. And I have always disliked fat lips. Ahem, on her face people!

As much as I have always liked Joan Rivers, I have to say with all the plastic surgery she has done her skin is so stretched it is beginning to look like saran wrap. Stop already please, and grow old gracefully Joan.

I caught some of their show the other night and it really was funny. Melissa was trying to get Joan to stop having plastic surgery and staged an intervention. Well she had surgery anyway and all the people who came to the intervention wound up at the plastic surgeon have procedures done too! Way to go!

I work with elderly ppl and as you age you do lose some sense of tact. so combining that with Joans brash comedic humor, it doesn't surprise me she was saying things like that. But another procedure Joan? to each their own I guess....

An exergration by your "ears meeting in the back of the head." In practice the incisions for a facelift occur in front of the ears, not behind them. Any lift procedure look tight right at first, due to the increased soft-tissue tension and the edema initially, then in a few months it improves and in a year or so the skin and subcuterous tissue are more relaxed into a more normal appearance.

Of course there are plenty of cases where some surgeon doesn't know what he is really doing and messes things up and one can end up with cat eyes, etc.

The thing is you don't know what she would look like if Joan hadn't had her multiple plastic surgery, but from her description of herself from other articles she would be old, gross, and plain looking. Now she's got a face SHE likes, and others recognize, and it works for her in her various careers, including selling her QVC jewellery range where she's made millons. So who's to argue with success, especially since she is able to joke about her plastic surgery in her acts, and even wrote a book about plastic surgery.

I say it's her face and life, so let her live it!

I happen to be married to a plastic surgeon so yes it is an exaggeration. I know exactly how they work, how much they cost, and what the immediate and long term results are.

I disagree with you. I think she looks as exaggerated as Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers and Meg Ryan, all of whom are overdone. A good face lift doesn't result in a 73 year old woman who looks 37. She looks 50 or 60 so that she ages gracefully, rather than not ageing at all.

What she had done is every bit as ridiculous as Wayne Newton. We all know he doesn't have jet black hair. it looks out of place and fake, just as Joan Rivers does.

Obviously it's her face so she can do whatever she wants. Likewise, I can express my opinion that I think she looks fake and overdone. You can disagree or disagree, that's up to you.

I can't figure how anyone likes her. I personally think she looks gross and sounds gross, but that's just my opinion.

Joan Rivers advice to you~ Grow old gracefully ,you are not doing that by plastering your outside too look so fake! You look like a mannequin! Your scary at this point. You may have the money to do those outside redos, which looks ridiculous, but what are you doing for their inside of your body? Also, instead of spending so much to look so fake ,why don't you donate that extra money to a charity, instead do something other than the face jobs with the extra cash ,no matter how much charity you already do now, just give that money as well! Your getting old on the inside body parts, no matter what you do on the outside!
As for talking lady parts Joan please spare us any gross details really..............

Not really. Botex injections are really just temporary "cosmetic procedures"...not "surgical procedures." Take those minor procedures out of the total and she's probably just had 20, plus or minus, actual surgical procedures. And that's not very many, as a person undergoing a full facelift includes about 4-5 procedures right there (face, neck, upper/lower eyes, brow and forehead lift).

Besides "real" is over-rated.
