Katherine Heigl Still Wants Back 'Grey's Anatomy': 'I Feel Like I'm Missing The Party'

Katherine Heigl wants you to know one thing: She's really, really sorry that she left "Grey's Anatomy." So sorry, in fact, that she can't even watch the show anymore.

"It just makes me sad ... I feel like I'm missing the party," Heigl told TVLine. "I live about five minutes from the studios, so I have to physically hold myself [back] from just popping in and being like, 'Hey guys -- whatcha doin'?"

Heigl left her role as Dr. Izzie Stevens on "Grey's Anatomy" after five seasons in 2010 to focus on her movie career, and while making the press rounds for her new movie "One For the Money," she mentioned that she would like to return to the ABC medical drama. Now, it's seemingly all the actress can talk about.

"I really, really, really want to see where [Izzie] is," Heigl told E! Online late last week. "I just want to know what happened to her and where she went and what she's doing now." Heigl said she's even reached out about it. "I've told them I want to," she told E!

Days later on "The View," Heigl confirmed that she's approached the writers about a possible return to Seattle Grace. "I always felt that if they wanted me to come back and sort of wrap up that storyline," Heigl told the ladies of "The View," with her adopted daughter Naleigh by her side. "I want them to know that I'm down with it if they want me to, but I completely understand if it doesn't necessarily work."

Although Heigl has yet to be approached by the "Grey's" writers, which TVLine confirms, she's not giving up hope just yet.

"You never know," teased Heigl.

"Grey's Anatomy" will air a special alternate universe episode, titled "If/Then," -- sadly, without Izzie Stevens -- on Thurs., Jan. 26 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.

Really really want her back in the show!!!! And Izzie and Alex back together!!!!
It's the beginning of the 7th season that I'm watching now but I still miss this couple! They were great! And I think they still can be! Or it would be the biggest regret ever...

Boy, oh boy, hard to eat crow when you're still choking on your words. Been there, done that. Best to sleep on what you're thinking before actually uttering those fateful words. I wish her luck, but she needs to move on.

it's a shame that ,so far, she hasn't chosen quality movie roles ...her film career hasn't gone anywhere.
i've heard that gray's may be on only for 1 more season (which is ok w/ me...i thought the scripts were getting so bad 2 years ago that i stopped watching) but maybe they'll be enough viewers to sway the producers to bring izzie back.

Didn't she jump ship because she thought she was a bigger star than everyone,and insulted them the whole way out? That's how I remember it. Ahhh, whats the matter Kathy, did you realize you aren't Julia Roberts? Need your old show back to keep you relevant? Guess you shouldn't have burned your bridge...

It was a great, innovative show the first half-season, especially the soundtrack. It became a top 5 show for me.
I lost Greys Anatomy when they persisted on that dead storyline with the guy Izzie was dating in the hospital bed. It went too far and became maudlin. I literally stopped watching the '06 and '07 seasons. I watch now, but often it is background noise.
They will bring her back for May sweeps.

Katherine Heigl isn't quite in the same category as David Caruso - she successfully jumped from television to movies (whether you like her movies or not) - but based on past history from actors, like David Caruso, who left roles as popular characters on hit tv shows to pursue movie careers (Jimmy Smits, Harry Hamlin, Shelley Long, Jeff Conaway, etc), it usually doesn't end that way. Katherine Heigl is lucky. David Caruso is lucky, too - he was given a second chance to reprise Edward Olmos' rendition of a Miami cop...

She has gotten that david caruso disease; ya diss the show and form tht made you a household name, then you think your talent is yoing to transfer to the movies where real charscter development in studio pix died w the blockbuster, and now when audiences are not guyimg the trade up, she wants back in. After dissing the show, after dissing the writers. Word to the wise; be careful how you treat the peeps on the way up, cuz youll be meeting them on your way down.

David Caruso diseaes - absolutely! She thought hers did not stink and the she was the show . Not so much - it went on beautifuly without her! Her movies are so -so. She now realizes that she left a good thing. How we do not miss the water until the well runs dry!

It seems, if remembered correctly, she got into it with the producers about the disrespectful way one of the other actors, now gone, was treating another actor. Everyone makes mistakes and perhaps she realizes that she needed to stay on course and not get involved in something that didn't involve her. Her buddy was capable of working it out for himself.
