'One For The Money,' 'The Bounty Hunter' Basically The Same Movie (VIDEO)

One For The Money Bounty Hunter

Notable "Blind Film Critic" Ben Churchill has a knack for pointing out when Hollywood has deja vu.

Previously he proved with a mash-up that "No Strings Attached" and "Friends With Benefits" were basically the same movie, and now he's gone and done it again with the upcoming Katherine Heigl rom-com "One For The Money" and 2010's oh-so-similar Jennifer Aniston movie, "The Bounty Hunter."

Even though "One For The Money" is based on the Janet Evanovich novel of the same name, there are so many similarities between it and "The Bounty Hunter" that it's ridiculous.

A hunky co-star having bounty hunter-related sexual tension with one of America's sweethearts is just the begining. They even have the same handcuff gag!

See what we mean by watching the side-by-side comparison above.

One of my favorite book series is a professional cop & amateur sleuth set in NJ (southern, in the Atlantic City area) and since i am from NJ too and love a good mystery novel i love to read about murder and mayhem in my state. But i could never get into the Evanovich series - still i always thought from the time the books came out they would be made into a TV series. I dont know why there was no action on that. Cant believe nobody pitched the idea to Evanovich. The problem is, with a series that is so rooted in the profession of bounty hunting, if you dont make it to the big or small screen fast enough someone else will take the basic concept - bounty hunters, squabbling love interests - and run with it. The movie The Bounty Hunter, the TV show In Plain Sight (marshals but close in content) and some reality show about female bounty hunters all made One for the Money very 'old news' by the time it was released.

Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 3. That's a 3 out of 100, not 3 stars.

I stopped reading the Plum series at thirteen due to the recycled plot lines. Cars blowing up, numerous people breaking into Stephanies apartment, Stephanie being snatched out of a car, because even after it happened 12 times before, she never learns to lock her car door and so on...

Having said that, One For the Money was one of my favorites at the time because it was funny. Katherine Heigl was miscast from the beginning and I knew that the movie was going to bomb upon hearing she was going to be Stephanie Plum. Heigl is not a comedic actress no matter how hard she tries. They would have been better off casting a new YOUNGER actress to play Stephanie, someone who looks 26 and not 34. Reese Witherspoon was slotted to play Stephanie many years ago when the book was first pitched for the big screen, which would have been a great choice. A TV series on a cable network like HBO or Showtime would have been a better option than making a bad PG 13 movie adaptation.

Loyal Stephanie Plum fans know this movie was screwed up from the get-go. Most of the stars were complete miscasts. It seems awfully obvious to me that ages don't match. Stephanie's grandma looks way younger than her mother. The cop (Morelli) she is out to capture, who once relieved her of her virginity, and was in high school with her, looks old enough to be her dad, and is nothing like the Italian stud he was in the book. The movie does not even make sense, and I have only seen the trailers so far. They should have stayed true to the way Evanovich created the characters.

Are there no other actresses besides Katherine Heigl? -- because she plays the same roles quite a bit and *I'm just saying*... are there NO other actresses in Hollywood? come on now!

If I'm not mistaken, in the Bounty Hunter, HE is the bounty hunter, and they are husband and wife. In this one, SHE is a bounty hunter, and they have a "history," but never a real relationship in the past. There are many other characters involved in this one, while The Bounty Hunter focuses on the two main characters.

Haven't seen this one yet, but it seems like a lame comparison.

I adore the Stephany Plum series by Janet Evanovich,I always look forward to the next book.
I never saw the "Bounty Hunter" I loathe Anistan although, love Butler.I'm looking forward to this movie because it will be nice to see the characters on film and will make the books more real.
I do Katherine Heigle and enjoyed her much in her "39 Dresses" movie.

Since Janet Evanovich wrote "One For The Money" in 1994 I would say that "The Bounty Hunter" people owe Ms. Evanovich some money.

Yep, and they for the most part miscast this movie something awful. I guess I will have to watch it, though, out of loyalty to our Steph.

I hate Katherine Heigl and this looks to be a repeated plot that was okay to begin with. What's more sad is the fact that Groupon is selling tickets for the movie half price. This just shows how much the studio plans on a big flop.

Never saw Katherine Heigl or Jennifer Aniston act because they just made Rom-Coms for girls.
