By The Kit,

We seem to be in an age of adoration for the '50s, with inspiration coming from the effortless sophistication and polished style of icons like Audrey Hepburn and Princess Grace Kelly. No other accessory deems itself more appropriate for this look than the headband.

We saw some fabulous headbands on the Golden Globes red carpet worn by some of the most glamorous stars including CharlizeTheron and Michelle Williams.

Vintage-looking headbands like the simple, sparkly ones on Theron and Williams can really modernize your look without looking juvenile. With a number of incredible options to choose from you want to be sure that you wear the headband and it doesn’t wear you! Opt for something elegant, jeweled and delicate as opposed to a band adorned with oversized bows or lots of feathers. There should be nothing schoolgirl about this look.

Try it with a great new hairstyle, that amazing new dress you have been meaning to wear or outfit your casual jeans and t-shirt with a vintage piece in your hair.

We can't wait to see who wears one at the Oscars!
