Hitler Flatware To Be Included In New York Historical Society Exhibit

Hitler

NEW YORK -- An upcoming New York City exhibition featuring four centuries of sterling silver includes two pieces of flatware that belonged to Adolf Hitler.

The fork and knife contain the initials A and H. They're among 150 objects from the New-York Historical Society's collection.

The exhibition opens May 4.

The museum says it received the flatware in 1946 from the late philanthropist and financier Carl Loeb.

Loeb got it from an American soldier who was a member of the force that captured Hitler's chalet retreat in 1945.

The museum says the pieces have never been displayed. It says there hasn't been an exhibition placing them in a historical context until now.

The museum says it wasn't surprising that Loeb kept the flatware as evidence of Hitler's defeat.

Will there be an Tienstin Silver Services?

When we were gangstering around the globe with the other Great Powers in 1900, we stole some silver from the Chinese while invading them, and then made them gift it to us as a sign of gratitude. My SSMom had a service made form that horde as her grand uncle was the skunk who with the Guggs had it made into rewards for all their Imperialdickheaded friends.

They also made a spectacular punch bowl to reward the Marines who did the fighting while they did all the profiting. It has recently been restored and is an amazing piece of Japanese silver work.

My SSMom's service was stolen, and she supected a Marine my father knew. If he took it, he deserved it. Imperialdickheads made them do all the killing just so they could make another one.

Gooooo, Apaches!!

The history and military channels have been airing lots of Hitler/Nazi documentaries of late.

The racist/bigots that lie about the Holocaust never happening is partly the reason why I don't mind having Hitler's personal effects in an exhibition. Time heals but the world should not forget what Hitler was all about.

Can't wait for the first Obama supporter to ask where Hitler's ipod is.

Your comment is more repulsive than the idea of a display of anything belonging to Hitler

He/she is probably young and ignorant about world history. If LWHC could just imagine himself as one of HItler's victims he/she wouldn't be so flippant with his comment.

You too. I find your comment just as off topic and repulsive as the other one by LWHC -- (and I'm not a republican).
