Richard Gere In 'Arbitrage': Watch First Clip From Buzzed-About Sundance Film

See Richard Gere's Potential 2012 Oscar Reel In First 'Arbitrage' Clip

As stated previously: believing any Oscar buzz out of the Sundance Film Festival is a fool's errand of massive proportions; after all, the journalists and tastemakers in Park City, Utah are battling bouts of altitude sickness, lack of sleep, festival goggles, or some horrendous combination of all three. That being said! Both John Hawkes (for his performance as a polio-stricken man looking to lose his virginity in "The Surrogate") and Richard Gere are leaving the snowy confines of Sundance with their own growing Oscar chatter. Will that carry them through to next year?

Let's not worry about that now -- Mayans and all -- but the first clip from Gere's Sundance film, "Arbitrage," has appeared online and can give you a glimpse of what's being called his career-best work. The film, about a Bernie Madoff-like scourge, debuted to strong reviews in Park City and was picked up by Lionsgate. Hopefully all that newly acquired "Twilight" money can help them mount a strong campaign during awards season 2013!
