Jan Brewer Releases Copy Of Letter She Handed President Obama

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer's office released the letter that she handed President Barack Obama Wednesday in their tense exchange at a Phoenix airport.

The Arizona Republic obtained the letter from Brewer's office, which initially resisted, saying the letter wasn't subject to open-records laws and no copies existed.

"Welcome to Arizona!" begins the letter, which the Republican governor wrote by hand in cursive on official stationery.

"You've arrived in a state at the forefront of America's recovery -- and her future," she writes. "We were at the bottom of the list in job creation. Today, we have a balanced budget and we're in the top 10 for job creation."

She continues, "We both love this great country, but we fundamentally disagree on how to best make America grow and prosper once again. I'd love an opportunity to share with you how we've been able to turn Arizona around with hard choices that turned out to be the right ones. And, of course, my offer to visit the border -- and buy lunch -- still stands."

According to a White House pool report, Brewer "handed him a handwritten letter in an envelope and they spoke intensely for a few minutes. At one point, she pointed her finger at him."

Brewer said that her book, Scorpions For Breakfast, "disturbed" Obama.

President Obama, however, downplayed the incident in an interview with ABC News Thursday. "I think it's always good publicity for a Republican if they're in an argument with me. ...But this was really not a big deal," he said. "Last time we met, she wasn't fully satisfied. But, you know, I think this is a classic example of things getting blown out of proportion."

First what street corner did they pick this person up on and slap her name on the ballot. She didn't even have the class, etiquette or wherewithal to have the letter typed. Did she terminate all of her office staff that can type. Does she not have a computer at work and home? This is not how one conducts business..................................Duh Now about that budget you are so proud of. Here is the  Read More...

When the horror of "911" unfolded before our eyes in our living rooms, places of work, TV stores and newsrooms around the world, we were shocked, saddened and horrified at what we saw. That was an American tragedy never to be forgotten.
As I watched this horror on American soil take place, I saw many people covered with grey dust; I attempted to adjust the color on my TV. After turning the several color adjustments to see color, I soon discovered that I could not bring color back onto my TV. I could not bring color into view. That was a 'light bulb moment'.
Everyone looked the same, there was no Black, White, Brown, Yellow nor Red...everyone looked the same. Shortly thereafter, many people of different faiths gathered together under the same roof in unity, compassion and protection.
Why do we have to experience destruction, terror and violence to come together in the spirit of love unity and compassion? After days, weeks, months and years have passed, we appear to be back where we were prior to that tragic day.
When we have freedom of choice to love one another, so often we choose not to.
Wake up Arizona...wake up America

It is never appropriate to point ones finger in the face of another person...especially any President of The United States of America. I repeat ...NEVER. Some parents teach their children that this is not nice nor respectful. Reading the cursive letter by the Governor or Arizona is shameful. Contractions are never to be used in formal letters to anyone...especially any Head of State.
Why is it that people who have different philosophies choose to treat each other with little or no respect? Are we teaching our youth the right way...regardless of race, creed, or color? Arizona has a well deserved reputation of idiocy, racism and bigotry throughout.
We can do better than this...if we so choose.

She should be embarrassed - many in Arizona are embarrassed by her.

What proof is there that this is the actual letter she tried to give him? But before she approaches a President of the US again, she needs to study up on the protocol.

Oh, but this picture tells it all ! ... Jan Brewer went out with her silly letter with venom on her mind ! And just looking at this picture makes me think of ... The movie, "The Wizard of Oz," when "The Wicked Witch of the West" pointed her long boney finger out saying.... "I'll get you my pretty" !

Believe me, the President handled it well, and walked away from this silly woman, and left her standing there with her ridiculous, childish letter !
01:26 AM on 01/30/2012
tugar, it was not a childish letter. she was attempted to school him due to his inexperience as a leader. also, you did not address Brian Williams pointing his finger at Bush. I suppose that's ok with you. If so, you are aware of the hypocricy.

I thought that Brewer was "welcoming" President Obama by demanding to see his papers. The people of Arizona, including Brewer, believe that the state of Hawaii is the same as the country of Kenya. Jan Brewer would never point her finger in the face of a white man, especially a white president...of anything! It might be enlightening for Brewer to learn that the black man who she disrespcted is not only the commander-in-chief of our military, but his victorious election in 2008 was the first time that someone was legally elected the President of the United States since 1996.

this woman is so full of bupkis. delusions of grandeur don't even scrape the surface - she once said "There but for the grace of God, I arrived" in describing her wondersomanishness in "saving" the state of AZ. Welcome to AZ the land of the crazy leaders put Caligula to shame.

"More private-sector jobs were created in the first eight months of 2010 than in the eight years of the Bush administration." The (Bureau of Labor Statistics) showed 111,634,000 Americans employed in the private-sector at the start of George W. Bush's first term, in January 2001. Eight years later, in January 2009, there were 110,981,000 Americans employed in the private-sector. So the United States lost 653,000 private-sector jobs on Bush's watch.

Private-sector employment in January 2010 was 106,793,000, a number that grew to 107,570,000 by September 2010. That worked out to 777,000 jobs created.

These numbers are bogus. It's all in how they calculate. Ugh!

Just like they say the GDP rose 2.6% when it's really more like around 1.3%. They base the number on sales, but do not include inventory. All BS.

When Obama took office there where 142 million people employed. Today there are 140 million. A loss of 2 million.

It all about how you want to tell the story.
