Marie Osmond Replacing 'Martha Stewart Show': Report

The New York Post reported on Thursday that the Hallmark Channel was in talks with Marie Osmond to air a new daytime talk show hosted by the famed entertainer. Osmond currently has a show in Las Vegas with her brother, Donny Osmond.

The channel has not confirmed that Osmond's show will air during the soon-to-be open time slot formerly occupied by "The Martha Stewart Show."

Earlier this month, Hallmark announced that Stewart's show would cease production in April 2012 though episodes will continue into September. Osmond's show, which will include cooking segments and interviews, will reportedly debut in September.

Last week, news surfaced that Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc. was being sued by Macy's in an attempt to block a licensing deal between MSLO and J.C. Penney.

News also surfaced earlier this month regarding another MSLO retailer, the Home Depot. The Post reported that the Home Depot was scaling back its sale of Stewart's branded paint.

MSLO chief Lisa Gersh blasted the Post piece in a memo to MSLO staffers, saying it inaccurately portrayed the company's relationship with the retailer.

Hallmark never announced "Marie Osmond replacing 'Martha Stewart Show'"; Hallmark never announce "Stewart's show would cease production in April 2012" ; Hallmark never announced a "soon-to-be open time slot formerly occupied by 'The Martha Stewart Show.'" All of this came from leaks by Hallmark and Michelle Vicary, programming evp, while "in discussions."

Hallmark and Vicary have engaged in unending, systematic leaks to exploit and manipulate free media publicity for Hallmark. The leaks by Hallmark and Vicary showed deplorable, bad faith conduct that makes a mockery of the Hallmark brand and Hallmark cards. Buying a Hallmark card is exchanging honest, hard-earned money for "the very best" in Hallmark hypocrisy. The Hallmark brand is a farce.

Hallmark and Vicary are in a state of denial that Hallmark is a backwater channel of reruns with a viewing audience of the living dead that can't sustain change. "Osmond's show" will be cancelled in a matter of months in Hallmark's wild goose ratings chase. Obviously, "Hallmark Channel was in talks with Marie Osmond" about a show that's cancelled already.

Cable tv needs a Martha Stewart channel to promote the American way of life and "America the Beautiful" that Martha embodies. The Hallmark channel is the Titanic with no future viability, and no Martha Stewart lifestyle programming should be on that channel

Marie can't replace Martha. She can have a show in the same time slot that Martha's show once occupied but I would hardly call that replacing. Marie CANNOT and should NOT attempt to be Martha Stuart. It will only make her look foolish.

Martha is the last best hope for the transformation and long-term survival of the Hallmark channel. Marie will be cancelled by Hallmark in no time. Her foolish show, fashioned by Hallmark, can't save Hallmark, the Titanic. So let's have more leaks from Hallmark and Michelle Vicary, programming evp, on Marie's set up for failure.

Martha is no "convicted felon" and she can vote like any American citizen on the voter registration list. She did nothing wrong and "served time behind bars" as GWB's political prisoner because of fee-gouging, grossly incompetent legal representation. The clueless should check out Twitter to see a picture of her at the voting precinct in a recent tweet telling people to get out and vote.

Marie's show will be a bomb, she's not much at all with out Donny by her side. The only reason the talk show they were in years ago even lasted as long as it did was becuase of Donny, he's got all the personality.

Martha served more than enough time considering what others have gotten away with. She chose to accept the guilty verdict and not drag it out for years and years with appeals. Makes her better than the average 1%er. She made an extra 50K....so what. It's not like she defrauded almost an entire country like some of her business contemporaries took great delight in doing. As far as not buying her products goes I can respect that. I haven't bought gas from Exxon since the Valdez oil spill and that's been more than a decade ago.

Martha cannot compare to Madoff, if that is what you mean, however she is still guilty and committed fraud, period.
