In an interview with Fox News' Bill O'Reilly, former GOP presidential candidate Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) reflected on the state of the Republican race, saying the voters have "whiplash" when it comes to supporting candidates.
"Whoever goes to the top, they don't stay there very long and they go straight down," Bachmann said Thursday. "And people have a very short shelf life. And it's almost like the voters have whiplash... they completely go with one candidate and then they'll hear some information and they'll move away."
Bachmann, who ended her presidential bid after a poor showing in the Iowa caucus, has not endorsed any of the remaining candidates. In the interview, she deflected O'Reilly's attempts to get her to name the strongest candidate left in the race.
She did, however, make a prediction for Tuesday's primary in Florida.
"I think Florida's result will be decisive," she said.
When O'Reilly asked if she meant that the winner of the Florida primary would be the eventual nominee, she clarified her point. "It will be decisive in that we could see a few candidates drop out and I think it could be a rallying point," she said.
Bachmann also commented on the negative turn the campaign has taken in recent weeks.
"You do get the snot beaten out of you," she said. "And that's just the way that this system works and it's actually a good system. I defend the process."
After she exited the presidential race, some speculated that Bachmann would leave public office altogether. Instead, she announced Wednesday that she would seek reelection for her congressional seat this fall. "I'm looking forward to coming back and bringing a strong, powerful voice to Washington, D.C.," she told AP.
