Alyssa Talks Backwards Really Well (VIDEO)

Alyssa is a special girl with a useless skill -- she can say any word you say backwards in three seconds or less, as demonstrated here when her (brother? friend?) throws words at her in the backseat of a van, for some reason. When the words are trickier, Alyssa says, "huh?", which appears to be a ploy to stall for time. But "huh" or no "huh," this girl is ridiculously fast. For the skeptics out there, another YouTuber played this "Alyssa Talking Backwards" in reverse to see whether Alyssa was just talking gibberish... which proves to be an ineffective method, resulting in more gibberish. As for us, we're dreaming of the day when there will be a backwards-talking bee for all those young geniuses whose talents aren't recognized like the spellers out there.

She is actually just "reading" the words, not pronouncing them backwards. After listening to several words, I noticed this right away. For example, when she says the word, "kaleidoscope" backwards she begins the word as "epocks...", pronouncing the "e" when it should be silent and a short "o" when it's a long "o".

Regardless, this is a pretty amazing talent. For one, she needs to be a great speller! I'm assuming she does this visually and "sees" the word in her mind and just reads it backwards. The speed at which she does this is the amazing part.

If you listen to what she's saying backwards it won't sound correct because she is pronouncing the words as they are spelled backwards not how they are pronounced. For instance, a silent e at the end of the word that you can't hear when spoken, she is pronouncing the e at the beginning of the word when spoken backwards so if you played it back in reverse the word will not sound the same anymore.

I have been speaking backwards since I was a little girl, but when I talk backwards it is how it is pronounced but in reverse so when you play it forward it sounds like the original word. Still, it's nice to see there are other people who talk backwards out there too even if it is a different backward dialect.
