Obama Impersonator Made President 'Burst Out Laughing'

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama knew he would be getting questions from people all over the country in Monday evening's video chat with the public, but one thing he didn't know was that he would get a question from himself. At least, from someone who looks and sounds a lot like him.

"Dear Mr. President. It's me, your premier President Barack Obama impressionist of the United States of America," began the video clip submitted by Obama impersonator Iman Crosson, who appeared in a suit and seated behind a mock Oval Office desk surrounded by photos of the Obama family. President Obama, the real one, can be heard laughing in the background.

"Let me be clear: Do you believe that comedy such as my videos or [Saturday Night Live], etc, can influence the outcome of an election?" asked Crosson, whose pauses in speech and intonation made him sound almost exactly like the real Obama. "Thank you. God bless you. I'm not actually you. However, I do endorse this question."

The video cuts off as a red phone on the desk rings and Crosson says, "Oh, I gotta get that."

A White House official said Obama had had no idea the impersonator's video was in the mix of video submissions, and that as soon as he saw it, "he burst out laughing."

"First of all, the only problem with that guy is he doesn't have any gray hair," the president replied once the video ended. "He needs to update his act a little bit."

He went on to give a serious answer about the importance of satire in politics.

"In most countries, you don't have the sort of comedy and satire about people in power that we do here. And, so, I don't know if any of this stuff affects an election, but I know that it makes our country stronger that you can make fun of the president or anybody and everybody can get a laugh," Obama said to viewers. "That also makes sure to remind me, that, you know, that I work for you guys."

The exchange came as part of a virtual interview Obama did with the public, via YouTube and Google Plus, to discuss his State of the Union address. In the end, nearly 228,000 people submitted more than 133,000 questions; more than 1.6 million people voted on which questions Obama should take.

Other notable moments during the interview included people asking Obama to dance, sing and talk about how he and Michelle Obama planned to celebrate their 20th anniversary this fall. Obama also personally offered to look at a man's resume looking for work. One thing that didn't come up, despite lots of interest from the public: pot-related questions.

So hes suppose to just run the country and not have some leisure sometimes..dont you take a break from life sometimes and your not ualified to do less than half all he has to do. Im sure people in your neighborhood thats not working think the same when they see you going on a vacation or just hanging with your friends and family. They probaly wish they had a job to go to to do some of the things your doing RIGHT NOW...so cut it with the President taking vacations and trips..than Man has to get away sometimes just like you do plus that channge your making at your job couldnt even pay for the hankerchief he uses to wipe his mouth... aint your money thats funding any of his trips anyway so grow up man

I see this situation as a side affect of democracy. Democracy is the most desired form of government because it has the most assurance of human rights. Becuase the society is madeup of humans it is best if we can all get alonga nd if you can laugh at yourself then you obviously don't take yourslef too seriously, you place yourself ABOVE your fellow citizens and you can better relate to their situation in life. When a country is run by a religious leader then the leader believes no one is as good as the leader, the same with a monoarchy. In a communist run society the leaders dictate the society and they too feel above their peers. In a democracy the leaders are derived from the normal population and are no better or worse than the others. every body gets one vote.

With nearly a century of slavery followed by by a century of Jim Crow laws, I can hardly agree with the assertion that democracy assures people of human rights

Boy are you living in the past? You do know that those laws have been repealed? And why do you think they were repealed? DEMOCRACY, that's why.

Has there ever been another American President that has had to endure so much hate and prejudice from ignorant people that he has tried to help. How quickly we forget the other Guy that had 8 years in office that put us in this mess in the first place. Because we now have an African American President, we now throw stones and bigotry remarks at him.

Will a candidate that has millions of dollars in their bank account, honestly say that he cares about the young couple that lives in the trailer park having enough food to feed their kids? Or, if giving people like themselves more tax breaks because that is what the rich Republicans are suppose to do. How can we be so foolish, stupid and PREJUICED to overlook people that have money, they are not trying to better the lives of the poor… but give them who have what they have; better tax breaks and a means to hold on to their money.

Some nice Fluff from the Huff, try to make the President all warm, and fuzzy, a regular Joe. Well, that regular Joe is not doing the job he was hired to do. Whoever he may be as a man, the man is not a good president.

sense of humor???? his BLAME GAMES, playing many golf games, eloborates vacations, so many parties at WH, basketball sing-dings, boondaggles field trips, while hard working families are hurting,,, more than 46 millions in poverty, gas price is >$3.50/gal. etc, etc, etc????? certainly NOT funny!
08:55 AM on 02/01/2012
Wow, you must really dislike your leader and know nothing about him. There is no "elaborate vacation" that he and his family goes to. They LIVE in Hawaii, they visit their HOME. It's not a vacation (a friend of mine was stationed in Hawaii and met the President in which the President personally invited him over to his HOME for Christmas dinner since he was stationed in Hawaii and could not visit his family for the holidays). The White House has ALWAYS had "professionally parties" or special occasions. That is nothing new (the President doesn't even attend half of them). As for basketball? How many games did Bush go to or was that not important while he was starting a war on the side and got us into this mess in the first place? The President Obama is doing a wonderful job AND has a talent to balance his family, something other Americans need to that note of. BUSH is the FIRST person to raise the gas prices and it's been out of control since. Don't you dare blame that on President Obama. It's funny how you can be so ignorant.

Over years presidents have been lampooned with humorists. This young man did provided a bit of fun minus any mean spirit. It always interesting to see how individuals react to such unexpected moments and POTUS Obama obviously got a laugh from it as well as providing us with insights to what world leaders opinions on the subject are. The president used the humor to his advantage representing more that is great about our nation rather than presenting any sign of negativity - Maybe he understands there is no need, the other side is ignoring addressing hard issues while tearing one another up. Interesting too, so far in the circus of so called debated the previous administrations debacle is skipped over in favor of going back to the long gone Regan era>>>

Human opinions....a fascinating study....

Many canidates promise to create jobs and to fix wall street and to fix the economy and to allow/dis-allow different things on different issues (ex: gay marriage, abortions, etc.) They promise to spank BigPharma and insurance companies and to bring BigBanks in line. These are all nice noble promises. Reality check!!!!!

How many of these issues does our president actually have control over? Pretty much the ONLY thing they have the final say over is if we will go to WAR or not go to WAR when it comes right down to it.
07:28 AM on 02/01/2012
Actually the President doesn't have the final say about war either. Just ask all the Ron Paul supporters.
Congress is supposed to be the body that declares war, but of course that little detail is often overlooked.
Oh, sorry. Those weren't wars, you know, Korea, Viet Nam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Lybia et al. They were police actions, or advisory, "humanitarian", or support missions.
From another perspective there were merely invasions.
Mankind has a brutal history. Is it possible we can evolve above barbarism before we destroy ourselves?

people think the President is suppose to control everything and he doesnt your so rite
