Madonna's memory is apparently fading or she's purposely trying to rewrite history. Watch the clip of her 1984 MTV performance again, and you can clearly see she has both of her shoes on near the end when she gets down on the floor and starts to hump her veil and then roll over on the ground, exposing her underwear. This wasn't a sudden, clever way to retrieve her shoes as she claims. That might have been the case near the beginning of her performance, after she purposely kicks both shoes off (perhaps to be able to walk down the tiers of the cake without stumbling). Then she seems to cleverly squat down briefly to put both shoes back on, but that's not when she rolls all over the floor, and the camera doesn't show her bottom half at that time. Why she's trying to downplay her rebellious youth is puzzling to me. Stunts like that made her the controversial and iconic star she became. This was a time at the very beginning of music videos and well before the internet, when people were still easily shocked. She should own that period of time; not try to explain it all away as some innocent mistake by a newcomer. I don't like this gentler, kinder, and apparently deceptive Madonna.
