Nicki Minaj: BET Bans Star Rapper's Explicit New Video For 'Stupid Hoe'

Nicki Minaj has used shock value to stay in the spotlight and to standout from other hip-hop acts. But it looks like her latest video for BET went a little too far.

The network is refusing to show "Stupid Hoe," according to TMZ. The network, which had long been criticized for airing sexually suggestive music videos, wouldn't say why they chose to keep the clip off the air, but TMZ cites sources that said the video — in which Nicki repeat the refrain "You a stupid hoe" over and over and shows what appears to be her bare buttocks — to be too raunchy. The video hasn't been getting much love on YouTube either:as of this morning, nearly two-thirds of all the people who voted on the video have "disliked it."

Crystal Rose, BET threw Niki Manaj under the bus for the moment and will continue to broadcast questionable videos by other rap and hip hop artists that are counter productive and promote social deviance especially amongst young/impressionable African Americans between the ages of say 12 and 25. The cash obsessed ghost of Bob Johnson lives on at BET.

All these harsh and irrational criticism over a song! Oh yea this set us back 40 years! I remember UNCUT if I am not mistaken it was on at midnight so if your kids was up watching it that's your fault! When in doubt put the kids in the conversation, If any of you haters could entertain and get accolades you would do it in a heartbeat. If she could sing like Patty,Sade or Arthea to name a few don't you think she would? She is not that type of entertainer but there's a lot of channels for everyone so pick another!

I know right? There's already an edited version of this song that was available to BET, titled "Stupid Stupid". It's on her VEVO page, but of course, folks want to exaggerate a style they don't like while excusing the guys using women as props and salacious eye candy in their misogynistic videos. So hypocritical of BET.

BET is on the forefront of the exploitation of the Black community and has done more to perpetuate stereotype and misperceptions about African- Americans than all of the Blaxploitation movies combined. With over 90 Million viewers in America alone they have a golden opportunity to adress issues around health, education, and employment and so many other issues of importance in the African-American community. They put profit before the interests of their viewing audience and undermine the efforts to improve the African- American community. In 1980, when Bob Johnson founded the company there was programs of substance that any parent could be proud of. Teen Summit, Ed Gordon,Tavis Smiley, BET Nightly News, Video Soul, Comic View etc. When Viacom purchased the company in 2000 they shifted focus and adopted a business model that relied solely on music videos. Bingo! While Bob Johnson stayed on until 2005 all of the hosts of the programs listed above are gone and want nothing to do with a network that denigrates for profit. Bob Johnson should have left in protest and his former wife, the current CEO, should demand change or leave.

My last sentence said that Bob Johnson should have resigned in protest. In no way was i saying it would have been better under Bob Johnson when, in fact, he was there for 5 years after Viacom purchased BET. If I am missing the extent of his involvement please inform me for the sake of understanding his role in the network. My intent was not to give him a pass but to highlight where the network shifted interests. Maybe I didn't do a good enough job of explaining his role since he was a player. Thanks for calling me out on it, and I am interested in your take on it as well. Good day.
