Oliver Wahlstrom really knows how to put on a show. Two years after becoming an internet sensation with a ridiculous spin-o-rama goal at TD Bank as a 9-year-old, the hockey prodigy pulled off another amazing goal.. and it seems like he would be pretty good at lacrosse too.
Competing in the finals of the 2012 Mini 1-on-1 boys 10-and-under bracket on Tuesday night -- in between periods of Boston's game against Ottawa -- Wahlstrom decided to show off some skills once he realized his Junior Pirates already had a 2-0 lead.
After he crossed the blue line, Wahlstrom dragged the puck through his legs and lifted it onto the blade of his stick. Then he twirled it around lacrosse-style all the way to the goal, faked one way and sent the puck past the netminder's right shoulder and into the net.
"YouTube here we come," said one of the announcers.
Watch the goal above and then scroll down to check out his spin-o-rama goal from two years ago.

It was banned several years ago when Mike Green, then playing for Michigan, scored a goal from behind the net by picking the puck up on his stick and flipping it over the shoulder of the goalie from behind. It was a beautiful goal but since every pro player can pick up a puck like that, they banned it.

That was Mike Legg for the University of Michigan, not Mike Green, and that was in 1996. Also, this is not specifically banned by rule. The rule states that you cannot play the puck with your stick above your shoulder, so a goal like this would not count in an NHL game. But there is no rule specifically banning this action.

How many of these are we going to have to see before they stop calling it amazing? I've played ice hockey many years now, and this is one of those "trick" moves that every kid practices in his spare time growing up. It's not all that novel anymore.

As a side note, we need more Gretzkys in the game than Ovechkins. Knowledge of how a play works out is much more important than trick stuff. The trick stuff may work in a shootout, but you have to score real goals before you even get there (unless a scoreless game of course).

For all the "frequent fliers" on here claiming these goals are "illegal," calm the eff down. He was showing off BETWEEN periods. That's like calling Blake Griffin's dunk in last year's Slam Dunk Contest "illegal" because he dunked over a car.
