Rooney Mara Rated 'Most Desirable' Female Oscar Nominee By AskMen Readers

Mara Chastain Williams

Move over, Marilyn. If AskMen's 2012 "99 Most Desirable Women" survey is any indication, the most desired female Oscar nominee is The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo's Rooney Mara. The best actress nominee came in at No. 3 on the site's reader-generated list released yesterday.

Playing one of America's most desirable icons in history in My Week With Marilyn earned fellow best actress nominee Michelle Williams a spot at No. 63. Jessica Chastain, nominated for best supporting actress for her turn in The Help, was voted the 86th spot.

Mara, who is featured on this month's Vanity Fair cover, has been well-praised for her work in the tense adaptation of Stieg Larsson's thriller. The role of Lisbeth Salander required Mara to strip down for both typical sex scenes and depictions of sexual abuse which were difficult to watch.

How do the Oscar nominees stack up against other movie stars? ScarJo sits at No. 7 on the list, Mila Kunis is at 13 and her Black Swan co-star Natalie Portman took the 21st spot. Anne Hathaway and Demi Moore also make appearances, respectively coming in at 37th and 80th on the list.

Modern Family's Sofia Vergara took the list's top spot, with model Kate Upton, Mara, Victoria's Secret Angel Miranda Kerr and rapper Nicki Minaj rounding out the top five.

Hopefully the Academy will use more meaningful barometers in evaluating the Oscar nominees, but head on over to AskMen for their entire list.

Where would the gents stand? Let us know who you find most desirable in the comments.

I prefer Kate (Mara). At least as she was in Shooter. She was lush in that.

So much dirt, so little time.

None of the above. Besides, men automatically think a woman is desirable if they've seen her naked. It's a Pavlovian response. I think she's really odd in both appearance and behavior.

Well, it's apparent they asked "men" with no taste.

Tired of working more and getting less.

She was nominated for an Oscar for that movie? Really? The performance was flat, she seemed more submissive than the character was written/designed (looking down, never giving eye contact) and I found myself vastly disappointed in the movie and I had such high hopes. I saw the Swedish version(s) and Noomi Rapace was just the more superior Lisbeth...she seemed to understand the character on a molecular level. The rest of the characters weren't terribly engaging either.

Fanned. You know your movies and acting.

Did you only see the other version and not read it? Not looking in the eyes most of the time is a major part of her character.

Exactly!

Hands down the hottest woman in Hollywood this year. Her acting chops in Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was totally bitch. She has acting teeth and if she keeps this up I'd put her in the same category as Gary Oldman and Heath Ledger. She's a pleasure to watch. Her timing, her inate sense of where the camera is in every movement, her ability to exploit every angle and I haven't even started on her ability to sell a scene, a line or a look with nothing more than a facial expression or body language.

Adult mature movie work with matured themes and real actors = who would have ever thought Hollywood would get at least a few right this year. Fincher did a great job.

She's pretty now. But with the short bangs and bleached eyebrows, not so much. Hellava body though.

I wonder if Rooney Mara was happy to invite her folks to the screening of the film, with extended nude and sex scenes. I'm not trying to get moralistic- I'm just saying... Awkward!

Yep. I have problems watching some scenes in movies with my mother. And I'm not even in them. But she's really good. I think her parents (and football family) are proud.
