Women Consider The Super Bowl A 'Dream Date,' Claims Dating Site Zoosk.com

A decadent dinner at a beautiful restaurant, a picnic in a secluded spot, an afternoon together at a museum ... a weekend jaunt to Indianapolis? According to a new survey from social dating site Zoosk, a staggeringly high percentage of single women dream of being whisked away to Indy to watch the Super Bowl.

Zoosk, a dating site that had 15 million active users in March 2011 according to the Wall Street Journal, surveyed just over 1,000 of its female users about their Super Bowl-watching preferences.

The methodology here was clearly suspect -- a press release declared that 91 percent of the 1,012 women polled said that being taken to the game in Indianapolis would be a "dream date," but the question actually put to women was:

If a guy invited you to go on a date to the Super Bowl, what would you think? a. Wow -- best date ever! b. Not impressed, football games are not my thing.

If you're a woman who actually likes football, you're not going to choose b. Does that mean you think a weekend in Indiana is the culmination of your romantic life? Not really.

More revealing was the fact that 66 percent of women surveyed said that they tune into the Super Bowl for the game itself -- not for the halftime show or the commercials. And this time the answers choices were less leading and clearly distinct:

What's your favorite part of the Super Bowl?
a. The game, of course!
b. The halftime show
c. The TV ads

two thirds of the women surveyed answered a. Pretty straightforward. Zoosk's female users like their football.

One thing the survey didn't ask women was whether they like watching football, or the Super Bowl, at least, more than other activities -- sex, for example. Earlier this week a survey released by Babycenter showed that 80 percent of moms would choose the latter. As much as the single women of Zoosk like football, do they feel the same? We'll never know.

What do you think: Are single women into the super bowl?

Also, since men far outnumber women on this dating site, they are marketing to naive men who actually believe this, and who will cough up the $$ to join thinking they will then meet the sports-loving female unicorn they so desire

Correction. They meant a woman's dream date is any guy who can afford tickets, not necessarily the tickets themselves

wow Jeff nice ego.. you can get the most attracitve man on the planet but if he is arrogant its a total turn off.. as far as the superbowl.. been there done that and it was fun.. but honestly even though I enjoy sports.. I wouldn't consider it a dream date.. a dream date for me is not about the place or event but the guy.. I have been on yachts with gorgeous rich men who I was bored with and Walmart with guys who worked hard for their cash and made me laugh.. I will take that guy any day..

Of course it's a "dream". Most of us don't date guys that can afford the tickets, let alone air fare, meals, hotel, etc.

Take a date to the Supeerbowl? that is a dream. $8,000 for ticket alone. Whogot dat? Bring the popcorn and pizza, we can spend 5 hours in front of my big screen (without all the drunks spilling beer on people and wanting to gang fight anybody who isn't for their team) Yes I did say 5 hours for a 3 and half hour game, you have figure in the after party. Beats the heck out of that exiting traffic jam.

definitely not for the guys.they want themselves and their "buds"

ugh, dont think so

I wonder who made this up? I don't believe that 91% of women think the Super Bowl is a dream date. What woman wants to be ignored while the man of her dreams is hypnotized by a sporting event? Believe me, no man is going to be gazing into your eyes and whispering sweet nothings when the his team is playing in the Super Bowl.

If you are a football fan and one of the teams is YOUR home team, he can whisper sweet nothings AFTER the game! Obviously you are not a fan of the game.

Wow! Bitter much, guys? Sounds like you date for the express purpose of what you can get off the chick. Maybe you should try just enjoying some time with a nice woman instead of picking the ones with Pamela Anderson looks. When you date women who have multiple men competing for their time, you risk getting the demanding arrogance that comes from a person who's been showered with attention. But you keep tryin', huh?

You sound like the bitter one, qt. There are those of us men who have the self- confidence to believe that we have what it takes to attract whatever kind of woman we want (whatever that may be), and don't have to settle for what we don't.

One ticket to the Superbowl costs $7000 for a cheap seat in the endzone. For a date to the Superbowl I'll be expecting sex with her before, after, and possibly DURING the game if it is a blowout. And she buys the beer!
