Dylan Moser Beats Cancer, Gives Money To THON In Honor Of Joe Paterno

Right before his third birthday, Dylan Moser was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Now Moser, 12-years-old and in remission, is celebrating his birthday in a different way -- by donating the $95 he received in gifts to the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, or THON, in honor of Joe Paterno, the Collegian reports.

"JoePa was a really good guy and he really wanted to give money to help others," Moser told the news source, "so I thought I would just give my money away to do my part."

THON is an organization that raises money to fight childhood cancer through an annual dance marathon and talent show. It's helped Moser in the past, and this year, Moser will be joining them on stage for his own dance performance, according to the Collegian.

Earlier this year, the Paterno family listed THON as one of the places to donate to in honor of Joe Paterno, along with the Special Olympics.

The family also plans to sell DVDs of the memorial service, with all the proceeds also going to charity, the Associated Press reported.
