John Travolta Donates Plane To Georgia Museum

John Travolta has donated an airplane to Georgia's Aviation Hall of Fame.

The actor and avid pilot donated a Gulfstream II, 13wmaz.com reports. The plane was flown into Robbins Air Force base on Tuesday and will be part of the air show there in April, a rep for the base told reporters.

Museum officials told the Associated Press that Travolta donated it in honor of his late son Jett, who died unexpectedly in 2009.

Travolta has long been an aviation lover. A licensed pilot since he was 23, he once told "People" magazine: "I love [flying] so much that I built my house next to a [runway] so I could fly my jet to my front door."

In September 2011, he added an 11th aircraft to his personal fleet, a Bombardier Challenger 601 jet and was named a Business Aircraft Brand Ambassador for Bombardier.

It hasn't always been smooth skies for the actor, though. His in-flight safety videos for Qantas were dubbed "cringe-worthy" by the airline's flight attendants. Check one out below.
