Jon Stewart: Newt Gingrich Thinks He Won The Florida Primary, General Election Already (VIDEO)

Jon Stewart Newt Gingrich

After Newt Gingrich was defeated by Mitt Romney in the Florida GOP primary with over 14% of the vote, just about all the late night comedy hosts are using the former Speaker of the House's flailing campaign as a target.

And rightly so, as Jon Stewart pointed out at the top of Wednesday night's "Daily Show," Gingrich has been saying some pretty funny things in his post-primary concession speeches -- or what should be concession speeches but sound more like the plans of a President-elect.

"Newt Gingrich appears to have confused the Florida Republican primary with the general election -- and getting your ass kicked with winning," Stewart joked.

Watch the full segment above and hear why Stewart thinks Gingrich's campaign is becoming more and more like the origin story of a super-villain. Not to mention, we're pretty sure he just proposed to America.

Did Newt's brain got sick and decided to abandon common sense?

The best part of Newt offering his "sacred honour" to America is that it's still new in the box and never been touched.

I got a kick out of "it's going to be a working presidency". As speaker of the house he only showed up for work an average of 1½ days a week.

I take comfort in knowing that since we have a very sick economy, Newt will soon leave us faster than he left his first wife.

Didn't Mitt spend 2 years in Europe during the Vietnam War? He seemed to like Europe then, at least before the car accident.
01:13 PM on 02/04/2012
And all of Europe thanks him! Now if only he and Newt would spend the next 5 years in Europe all of America would thank him!

"Studying since 1958"....

Ummm Newt...you were SPEAKER of the HOUSE...and didn't exactly dazzle.
So now we're to understand that you are a "professional student"?
When exactly were you planning to get that degree?

I have never, in many years of watching the Newtster, seen a single idea that resonated with the American people except for his lists of good words for Republicans and vile, libelous words for Democrats, among them "liberals," and the use of "Democrat" as an adjective. The stupid have swallowed these and many others whole, not realizing that they are being manipulated all the while. But then, if they were smart, they would not need to be told what to think by Newtie and his ilk.

I heard Romney say "Obama has adopted a policy of appeasement and apology" and then I thought he was going to say "to terrorists" but he didn't. So I'm left with "Obama has adopted a policy of appeasement and apology to the Republican party" which when you come to think of it is pretty much like what I thought he was going to say to begin with.

So I'm curious to know what all these 'anti-religion' bills President Obama has signed into law which the Newt wants to repeal. Can somebody enlighten me?
