Arnold Schwarzenegger Visits Taj Mahal, Finds It Closed (PHOTOS)

NEW DELHI -- Arnold Schwarzenegger's dream of visiting the Taj Mahal has been dashed.

The former California governor traveled to the Indian city of Agra on Friday, the one day each week the monument is closed to tourists because of Muslim prayers at a nearby mosque.

His tour guide Nitin Singh said the movie star was disappointed and had to view the Taj Mahal from a nearby road.

Schwarzenegger took pictures with his cellphone and posed for photos with the Taj as the backdrop.

He is in India for an environmental conference.

He told a TV channel he would consider acting in Bollywood if offered an interesting script with a good director.

"I'll be back," he told the cheering studio audience.

It also happens with me. I am an Indian and live New Delhi which is very near to Agra (the city of Taj). But dont know that the Taj remain closed on Friday and reached Agra for one day tour and had disappointed. Form that day to till now never got opportunity to visit again.

Ha!! You are sooo right - and I live in California. I didn't vote for him...there were a few of us who still believed Gray Davis was doing a good job. The recall was a joke, all brought on by one of the first big greed scams -- ENRON.
And it's little wonder the state is in such a terrible mess as it is now, with this idiot running it - who travels half way around the world and then doesn't have enough sense to know the one day a week that the monument is closed?? At least THIS actor can't go on to ruin the country, like our last acting governor did. Always something to be thankful for...

What?! ..and those people around him! ... all those people at the 'conference' and no one told this dude the place was closed?! His TEAM is weak.

I mean.... Agra is in the middle of nowhere - or the scenic route to Khajuraho - so they (his TEAM/ Delhi Delegation) must've WANTED ArnOld to waste his time and look twittish.

People should know or remember that while it is in India it is a Muslim tomb in a Muslim area . We are lucky that it is open at all as it is need of repairs due to age and environment .
